Robinhood Prices a 5-Cent Ticket on Dogecoin at $0.085

Robinhood quotes 5 cents on Dogecoin at $0.085 at 4 a.m. EDT, with Coinbase at $0.08459 and payout set by a CF Benchmarks 60-second average.

Robinhood is quoting a 5 cents contract on Dogecoin printing $0.085 or above at 4 a.m. EDT on September 12, 2026. On Coinbase the coin last changed hands at $0.08459 as of 3:17 a.m. EDT, $0.00041 short of the line that pays $1.

The board looks like a cheap overnight lottery. The number that settles it is not that Coinbase last trade. Robinhood’s own page sends the contract to the CF Benchmarks Dogecoin Real Time Index, then pays $1 only if that index, averaged over the final minute, holds $0.085 or above.

Dogecoin Trades $0.00041 Below the $0.085 Line

The $0.085 rung is the live quote on Robinhood’s Dogecoin event page, listed next to $0.005 or above and $0.01 or above, both showing 0 cents, with 48 more contracts on the same ladder. Those 0-cent rungs are empty last prices on deep strikes, not a claim the coin has collapsed under a penny. The only contract with a real two-sided number on the scraped board is $0.085 or above at 5 cents.

Coinbase’s September 12 session through 3:17 a.m. EDT opened at $0.08427, traded as high as $0.08462, and printed a low of $0.08412. Even the session high still sat $0.00038 under the strike. Binance.US showed Dogecoin at $0.08439 around 2:19 a.m. EDT, with a market cap of $13.16 billion on 155.88 billion coins, ranking the asset 11th, and $864.07 million of 24-hour volume.

OVERNIGHT PRINTS VERSUS THE $0.085 STRIKE

Print Time Price Distance from $0.085
CF Dogecoin-Dollar Settlement Price 3 p.m. GMT, September 11, 2026 $0.0865888 $0.0015888 above
Coinbase open September 12, 2026 $0.08427 $0.00073 below
Coinbase last 3:17 a.m. EDT, September 12, 2026 $0.08459 $0.00041 below
Coinbase session high Through 3:17 a.m. EDT, September 12, 2026 $0.08462 $0.00038 below

A $0.00041 gap is less than half a percent. Overnight traders were already treating $0.085 as the dip to load or fade, which is why that exact round number is the strike Robinhood put in lights rather than some distant lottery print.

Friday’s London Fix Already Cleared That Strike

The coin did not spend Friday under $0.085. CF Benchmarks’ London Dogecoin-Dollar Settlement Price, ticker DOGEUSD_RR, printed $0.0865888 at 3 p.m. GMT on September 11, 2026, which is $0.0015888 above the Saturday strike. That daily fix has run since October 8, 2021, as a UK-registered benchmark, and it is a different number from the once-per-second RTI the event contract uses.

From that Friday London print to the $0.08459 Coinbase last, Dogecoin dropped 2.31% into the Saturday window. CoinLore’s 2026 range puts the year’s average at $0.0945, the high at $0.1557, and the low at $0.0681, so $0.085 sits in the lower half of the year’s tape, not at a crash print. OKX still lists the all-time high at $0.74000.

FROM FRIDAY’S FIX TO THE 4 A.M. CLOCK

  1. September 11, 2026, 3 p.m. GMT: DOGEUSD_RR prints $0.0865888, $0.0015888 above the Saturday strike.
  2. September 12, 2026, session open on Coinbase: Dogecoin opens at $0.08427, $0.00073 below $0.085.
  3. September 12, 2026, 3:17 a.m. EDT: Coinbase last is $0.08459, session high $0.08462, both still under the line.
  4. September 12, 2026, 4 a.m. EDT: the event contract resolves on the CF Benchmarks RTI average for that minute.

The overnight slide is the whole setup. Friday’s official London fix would have paid the $0.085 ticket in full. Saturday morning spot would not.

How Robinhood Settles the $0.085 Dogecoin Bet

Robinhood tells traders that Google or Coinbase can guide a view, and that the contract still settles on CF Benchmarks’ corresponding Real Time Index. A winning ticket pays $1 per contract. Positions can be closed before resolution. Extra fees apply, and the firm says payouts usually land within 1 hour of the event resolving. Trading runs 24 hours a day except Thursday from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. ET.

Kalshi’s published Dogecoin rules for the same 4 a.m. EDT clock collect 60 RTI prices in the last minute before expiration and take the simple average as the official value. CF Benchmarks describes Kalshi crypto event contracts as settling to RTIs through a one-minute window of per-second observations, with trimmed averaging that drops the top and bottom 20% of observations on certain markets. That design is there to blunt a single last-second spike, which is the exact move a Coinbase ticker watcher might think had already won the bet.

THE MINUTE THAT PAYS $1

  • The index: DOGEUSD_RTI publishes about once per second from a consolidated book, not from one exchange’s last trade.
  • The window: about 60 one-second prints in the minute before 4 a.m. EDT on September 12, 2026.
  • The average: those prints are averaged, and some related markets also trim the top and bottom 20% before the mean is taken.
  • The test: if that average is $0.085 or above, the 5 cents contract is worth $1; if it is under, it is worth 0.

A Coinbase tick through $0.085 in second 59 does not, by itself, pay. The average has to clear. People employed by the source agencies, and anyone holding material non-public information on the underlying, are barred from trading the contract.

Robinhood’s Event Book Outran Crypto Trading

The Dogecoin ticket sits inside a product line that now pays Robinhood more than crypto trading does. The company’s second-quarter results showed $156 million of event-contract revenue against $10 million a year earlier, $342 million from options, $129 million from equities, and $100 million from crypto. Net revenue was $1.31 billion. Transaction revenue was $776 million, so event contracts were 20% of that trading line.

On September 8, 2026, Robinhood said customers had 13.6 billion event contracts traded in the second quarter, more than 5 billion during the World Cup alone, more than 45 billion since the product launched about two years earlier, and more than 30 billion through the end of August 2026. Event contracts on the app are offered by Robinhood Derivatives, LLC through KalshiEX LLC, ForecastEX, LLC, Rothera Exchange and Clearing LLC, or North American Derivatives Exchange, Inc. Rothera is the CFTC-licensed joint venture with Susquehanna International Group that began taking routed flow in June 2026. Football contracts started routing to Crypto.com’s OG.com on September 8, 2026, while crypto price contracts still sit on the older venues.

THE EVENT-CONTRACT STACK IN Q2 2026

  • Event-contract revenue: $156 million, against $10 million in the year-earlier quarter.
  • Contracts traded: 13.6 billion in the quarter, and more than 45 billion since launch.
  • Other trading lines: options $342 million, equities $129 million, crypto $100 million.
  • Firm revenue: $1.31 billion net, $776 million of it from transactions.

CEO Vlad Tenev has already described the category in those terms.

prediction markets have become the fastest growing business in our history…I think we’re just at the beginning of a Prediction Markets supercycle…

Vlad Tenev, CEO, Robinhood newsroom, September 8, 2026

JB Mackenzie, vice president and general manager of futures and prediction markets, said routing to several venues “helps create a stronger, more diverse and resilient marketplace.” The Dogecoin 4 a.m. print is one more SKU in that book, sitting beside the same overnight crypto binaries Robinhood has already used for XRP, including a two-cent 9 a.m. XRP contract.

The 4 a.m. Window Measures One Index, Not Coinbase

Four in the morning Eastern on a Saturday is a thin hour in dollar books, which is the point of using an index built from several venues rather than a single last trade. CME Group’s FAQ on the family says the real-time indices are calculated from the relevant order books of all constituent exchanges, then published about once every second, every day. The listed contributors for the broader CME CF suite include Bitstamp, Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, LMAX Digital, Bullish, and Crypto.com.

DOGEUSD_RTI

  • The term: the CF Dogecoin-Dollar Real Time Index is the once-per-second spot rate Robinhood names as the source for this contract, distinct from the once-a-day London settlement price that printed $0.0865888 on September 11.

Kalshi has already used that 4 a.m. EDT clock on Dogecoin. A April 22, 2026 15-minute contract resolved on the simple average of 60 DOGEUSD_RTI seconds before 4:00 a.m. EDT, with payout five minutes later. Robinhood’s September 12 page also lists a Solana contract for the same 4 a.m. EDT stamp, so the hour is a scheduled crypto print across coins, not a one-off Dogecoin stunt. The same odd-hour pattern showed up when the Kalshi 1 a.m. EDT XRP market came due.

Interactive Brokers’ ForecastEx has been moving crypto forecast contracts onto the same RTI family, with initial coverage named as BRTI, ETHUSD_RTI, SOLUSD_RTI, XRPUSD_RTI, and DOGEUSD_RTI. Because Robinhood already routes some event contracts to ForecastEX as well as Kalshi, the Dogecoin 4 a.m. bet is downstream of one index complex even when the app shows several exchange names in the footer.

A 5-Cent Ticket Still Has to Beat the Index

At 5 cents, a correct YES is worth $1, twenty times the displayed entry before fees. That multiple is why the quote looks generous when Coinbase is $0.00041 away. The other side of the same quote is a market that, at 3:17 a.m. EDT, still did not believe the next 43 minutes of averaged order-book mid would finish at $0.085 or above.

The contract does not ask what Dogecoin “should” be worth, and it does not pay on a Coinbase screenshot. It asks whether DOGEUSD_RTI’s last-minute average on September 12, 2026, at 4 a.m. EDT is $0.085 or above. Friday’s London fix of $0.0865888 already cleared that hurdle. The Saturday Coinbase last of $0.08459 had not.
