Vivo Y31t 5G Asks ₹25,999 for a 720p Tank

Vivo is selling the Y31t 5G in India from ₹25,999, a 7,200 mAh IP68 and IP69 phone with a 720p LCD and Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. The 6GB plus 128GB model is ₹29,999, and the 6GB plus 256GB model is ₹34,999, on the vivo e-store, Flipkart, and partner shops.

Those figures landed after the company posted a full spec sheet on its India site with no price. The cell, the IP marks, and Android 16 are real upgrades. The chip, the HD LCD, and Bluetooth 4.2 are the same compromises Vivo already sold for much less.

The Website Listing That Became a Price List

vivo India’s product page for the Y31t 5G went up around 17 August 2026 with colours, cameras, and software named, and with the invoice still blank. Ten days later the three memory SKUs were on sale. Crimson Red, Seashore Green, and Golden Mist are the finishes, and the back is a composite plastic sheet with a metallic camera island.

The phone is assembled in India at Vivo Mobile India Private Limited in Greater Noida. A 4GB HD+ Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 handset at ₹25,999 is last year’s Y-series recipe with a larger cell and a new invoice, and that gap is the whole pitch.

A 7,200 mAh Cell on a 720p Screen

The typical pack is 7,200 mAh, with a 7,060 mAh rated figure. Charging is 44W through a vivo 11V/4A adapter in the box. The company’s own lab sheet, with the screen at 150 nits, quotes 62 hours of Bluetooth music, 32 hours of video, 10.2 hours of navigation, and 11.4 hours of gaming. Those are single-app runs at 25°C, not mixed days.

The panel is a 6.75 inch (17.14 cm) LCD at 1608 × 720, up to 120Hz, 83% NTSC, and 1,250 nits HBM. Local peak brightness is not supported. TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification is listed when Eye Protection is on. Wet-hand touch and a one-tap water and dust ejection tool sit next to the IP claims, because this screen is built to be used in rain more than to look sharp in sunlight.

vivo’s India page puts the 7,200 mAh battery with 44W FlashCharge ahead of the cameras. The rear pair is a 50MP f/2.0 wide (90°) plus a 2MP f/2.4 bokeh module, with an 8MP f/2.05 front camera. Underwater photography is a named rear mode. Dual stereo speakers are rated at 400% ringtone volume and 200% receiver volume in vivo’s lab language.

The chassis is 16.664 × 7.843 × 0.839 cm and 219g, with a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint reader. Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 runs two cores at 2.2 GHz and six at 1.95 GHz on 4 nm. vivo quotes an AnTuTu V11 score above 630,000 on an 8GB plus 128GB lab unit, a memory cut India does not sell.

How the Y31t Differs From the Y31 5G

The Y31 5G launched at ₹14,999 for 4GB plus 128GB on 15 September 2025, with 6GB plus 128GB at ₹16,499. It used the same Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, a 6.68 inch HD+ LCD, 44W charging, and IP68/IP69. The Y31t’s 4GB model is ₹11,000 higher. What you buy for that is a 700 mAh larger typical cell, UFS 3.1 instead of eMMC 5.1, OriginOS 6 on Android 16, a gyroscope, and 250 nits more HBM brightness.

You also give things up. The Y31 5G still lists a 2 TB microSD tray. The Y31t does not expand storage at all. The older phone’s 50MP main camera is f/1.8; the new one is f/2.0. vivo’s own underwater note is shallower on the Y31t (1.5 m for 30 minutes) than on the Y31 (2 m for 30 minutes). Weight rises 10g, from 209g to 219g.

Y31 5G VERSUS Y31T 5G

RAM is 4GB or 6GB LPDDR4X, with software “expandable RAM” of 4GB or 6GB depending on the cut. Storage is 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1. The India SKUs stop at 6GB. If you already own a Y31 5G, the t-model is a battery and software bump, not a new phone class.

Vivo Already Sells a Faster 7,200 mAh Phone

On 17 March 2026, vivo India put the T5x 5G from ₹18,999 for 6GB plus 128GB, with 8GB plus 128GB at ₹20,999 and 8GB plus 256GB at ₹22,999. That phone also carries a 7,200 mAh cell and 44W FlashCharge, plus IP68/IP69+ and a Dimensity 7400 Turbo. vivo’s own T5x note cites an AnTuTu score over 1 million. Sales started 24 March 2026 on Flipkart, the e-store, and retail partners.

The Y31t’s 6GB plus 128GB SKU is ₹11,000 above that T5x 6GB model, on a slower chip, with 4GB still in the lineup. Pankaj Gandhi, vivo India’s chief business officer for online, framed the T5x around the cell and the price, not around a 720p panel.

By late August the same company was asking more money for Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 and an HD LCD. The Y31t still has a case: IP68 and IP69, SGS 5-Star drop testing, and a side fingerprint on a plastic body aimed at rain, dust, and drops. It is a weak case against Vivo’s own March invoice.

Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0, and No NFC

The Y31t parameter sheet is blunt about radios. Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The USB-C port is USB 2.0. FM radio is absent. Dual nano-SIMs run Dual SIM Dual Standby on 5G bands n1, n3, n5, n8, n28B, n40, n77, and n78. GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS are listed. The sheet also records Bluetooth 4.2 and no NFC.

Qualcomm’s platform page for this chip lists Bluetooth 5.1 on Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, with Wi-Fi 5 in a 1×1 setup and a Snapdragon X61 5G modem. Vivo’s Y31 5G used Bluetooth 4.2 on the same silicon. The t-model does not fix it. LE Audio and a modern Bluetooth stack are chip features this SKU is not shipping.

Lab extras include 10,000 USB insertions, 450,000 power-button presses, 200,000 volume-button presses, and 42,000 small-height drops, plus a military-grade drop claim.

Origin Island Comes to a Snapdragon 4 Phone

OriginOS 6 on Android 16 is the software jump from the Y31’s Funtouch OS 15. Vivo spent late 2025 moving global phones off Funtouch onto OriginOS 6. The Y31t ships that skin on a 4GB budget chip, with Origin Island, Drag & Go, Copy & Go, Private Space, and cloud AI tools (Creation, Captions, Transcript Assist) that need a vivo account and a network. Spring Animation is the motion layer. AI SuperLink is the weak-signal pitch.

On 4GB of LPDDR4X, those extras compete with the same RAM the apps use. Extended RAM is a software carve-out from storage, not a second DRAM package. Private Space is the clearer fit: a hidden locker for photos, files, and apps on a phone meant to be carried into wet, shared, outdoor work.

The Y31t 5G is a dust-and-rain handset with a two-day cell, sold like a mid-ranger. The Y31 5G already had IP68 and IP69 for ₹14,999. The T5x already had 7,200 mAh for ₹18,999. What remains is whether Indian buyers will pay ₹25,999 for UFS 3.1, Android 16, and 700 extra milliamp-hours on a 720p LCD that still talks Bluetooth 4.2.
