Dragon’s Dogma 2 Switch 2 Release Brings Dark Arisen DLC
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Switch 2 release arrives October 9, 2026 with Dark Arisen, a DLC route, free updates, and a base game price cut in Japan.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Switch 2 release is set for October 9, 2026, as Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a package that combines the base game with the newly announced Dark Arisen expansion. Capcom’s announcement also puts the expansion on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam as separate DLC for players who already own Dragon’s Dogma 2.
This is a port announcement with a second track built in. Capcom’s Japanese release says the project started from player feedback around three ideas: easier play, unseen adventure and an easier price point.
The Switch 2 Version Is the Complete Package
In the Switch 2 version, Capcom describes Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen as one package that brings the base game and the new elements together. The same announcement lists the title for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, with the release date, platforms and product details placed in the Japanese product section.
| Buying Path | Platforms Listed | Japanese Product Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen | Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam | Package and download versions are listed at 5,990 yen including tax; package version is listed only for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 |
| Dark Arisen Expansion DLC | PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam | Download version is listed at 2,990 yen including tax and requires the base game |
| Dragon’s Dogma 2 base game | Download version | Japanese price cut planned to 4,990 yen including tax from June 25, 2026 at 9:00 JST |
For Switch 2 owners, the line item is simple: the new release carries the full game and the expansion together. For existing players on the listed current platforms, the line item is the paid expansion DLC. Related reading: Tales of ARISE’s complete Switch 2 edition.

Norgan Is the New Northern Region
The Dark Arisen expansion sends the Arisen to the long-abandoned northern region of Norgan. Capcom’s English details say the Arisen joins Eir and investigates the secrets of the undying Fallen Dragon.
The Japanese release adds more texture to the same place. Norgan was once a royal territory, has been abandoned for a long time, and is described as a silver frozen land with hostile barbarians and powerful monsters.
- New story area: Norgan is the expansion’s new adventure stage, and spoils from the region can be appraised into new weapons and skills.
- 12 Lost Rites Dungeon Challenges: Capcom’s English details say the dungeons recover rare equipment once held by past Arisen.
- Character creator additions: the release lists new hairstyle and tattoo options for the Arisen and Pawns.
The Japanese release says relic weapons found in Norgan reveal their value after appraisal, with some weapons carrying special skills. It places that gear loop inside the frozen region rather than in a separate menu promise.
The character edit additions apply to Pawns as well as the Arisen. Capcom names hair and tattoos as the new variations in the release.
Existing Owners Have a Separate Route
Existing owners follow a separate buying path from new Switch 2 buyers. Capcom’s Japanese announcement says players who already own Dragon’s Dogma 2 can buy Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Expansion to play the added content.
The store cleanup is dated. The same release says sales of Dragon’s Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition and listed DLC on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam end on June 25, 2026 at 9:00 JST.
- Still usable: content already purchased can continue to be used.
- Still purchasable: Dragon’s Dogma 2, Explorer’s Camping Kit and Dragon’s Dogma Music & Sound Collection remain on sale.
- Bonus listed: download preorders and early package purchases in Japan are listed for the Norgan Dressing Set.
The Free Updates Start With Travel
Capcom tied Dark Arisen to two free title updates for the base game. The Japanese release dates the first update to June 10, 2026 and the second to the end of August.
English details quoted by Gematsu list June 9 for the first update and name Eternal Ferrystone and more Portcrystals among the first additions. The same English description says the August update brings frame-rate and performance improvements to all platforms, additional save slots and more adjustments.
The Japanese text says the updates follow feedback from people who played Dragon’s Dogma 2 and are meant to make the base game easier to play while keeping the freedom of adventure. It says details will follow in a later report.
The Old Name Sits Beside the New Sequel
Capcom’s sales pages put the Dark Arisen name beside the sequel inside the company’s own catalog. The the Platinum Titles sales table is dated as of March 31, 2026 and puts Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen in the same ranked list.
- 4.20 million units: Dragon’s Dogma 2, release Mar 2024, platform PS5, XSX, DL.
- 4.30 million units: Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, release Apr 2013, platform PS3, Xbox 360, DL.
- 2.60 million units: Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, release Oct 2017, platform PS4, Xbox One, DL.
Capcom’s the original launch sales release said Dragon’s Dogma 2 worldwide sales surpassed 2.5 million units and said cumulative Dragon’s Dogma series sales exceeded 10 million units. It described the series as fantasy action games with pawn adventure companions that can act on their own.
The same release described Dragon’s Dogma 2 as a solo game that can give players the feel of adventuring in a group of up to four people with AI-controlled pawn characters. Dark Arisen now carries the new content name, while the base game updates carry the travel, performance and save-slot work Capcom has put in writing.
