T-FAMILY Bubble Puts Underage Trainees on Paid Chat
T-FAMILY bundled Bubble chat into high-member dues, switched on fourth-generation trainees, then patched GPS in saved photos as live shows stalled.
June 5, 2026, T-FAMILY put Bubble chat into trial for the Login Plan roster and every TF Family fourth-generation trainee. The official fan-club app is rated 4+ and sells the feature as a high-member perk, not a separate plan.
Some TNT fans said they did not want it, fearing sasaengs would treat a “private” window as a map. The people on the other side of that window include trainees who are still in school.
T-FAMILY Put Bubble on Fourth-Generation Trainees
Beijing Time Fengjun Culture and Art Development Co., Ltd. renamed its fan-club app T-FAMILY on January 9, 2026. Version 5.1.6, logged on June 5, said Bubble was in trial and that Login Plan members plus all fourth-generation trainees were already live, with other families to follow.
Fourth-generation names on public trainee lists run from older teens to children. Chen Junming, a fourth-generation trainee, was born on May 17, 2012, so he is 14. Fifth-generation trainees, born between 2012 and 2014, already have a VIP product in the store. The June note did not say they were on Bubble yet.
Apple’s China listing prices in-app VIP at 268 yuan a year for TF Family, Login Plan, and fifth-generation trainees, and 398 yuan for TNT, T.O.P, and TFBOYS. The same page scores the app 2.2 out of 5 from 56,000 ratings and lists “messages and chat” plus user-generated content under a 4+ rating. Privacy labels say the developer may collect location, contacts, and user content.

TNT fans who spoke against the rollout were not arguing about a toy filter. They were arguing about a paid pipe into a cultivation system that already draws sasaengs to dorms, cars, and training buildings.
The Chat Window Is a Broadcast Booth
On the fan phone, each artist’s notes sit in a separate thread, so the layout reads like a private chat. On the artist side, Korean Bubble has long presented fan mail as a pile of incoming notes, not a WeChat-style one-to-one thread. T-FAMILY’s version copies that shape: member pushes, voice clips, and fan replies, with more tools still closed.
HOW T-FAMILY BUBBLE ACTUALLY RUNS
- Send cap: A fan may send at most 3 messages, then must wait for a reply or a new artist post.
- Artist inbox: Replies are read in bulk; the star is not sitting in 10,000 separate rooms.
- Fan screen: The same blast is drawn as a personal window, including the wait that makes it feel scarce.
- Word filter: Everyday greetings, animal names, jokes, and fan slang have been blocked or flagged as violations.
- Stability: Freezes, failed loads, and broken send states showed up while the trial was still new.
The wait is the product. A cap that looks like artist protection is also the thing that makes each new line feel like a drop of access. Seoul National University sociologist Naeun Lee, writing in Media & Gender after interviews with 22 Bubble users, mapped that gap years before T-FAMILY copied the skin.
Fan platform “Bubble” is a service in which one-sided message exchange between k-pop idols and fans consists of conversations. Its emergence reinforced the intimacy fantasy of k-pop fandom and, at the same time, exposed the structure.

Lee’s English abstract also asks how the intimacy fantasy works when users already know the talk is one-way. Fans still treat the chance of an intimate exchange as a fact. That is the feeling a 14-year-old trainee cannot opt out of once the company hangs the channel on his membership page.
What a Membership Buys That a Korean Sub Does Not
DearU, the Korean operator, bills Bubble as its own monthly product. T-FAMILY folded the clone into high-member dues, so a bad chat is not a line item a user can cancel. The company can call it a benefit of the club that also sells merch, early tickets, and exclusive posts.
T-FAMILY VIP SKUS ON THE APP STORE
| Family line | In-app VIP price | Bubble status in the June 5 note |
|---|---|---|
| TF Family (4th generation) | 268 yuan | All members live in trial |
| Login Plan | 268 yuan | Live in trial |
| Fifth-generation trainees | 268 yuan | VIP exists; Bubble not listed as live |
| TNT (Teens in Times) | 398 yuan | Not in the first wave |
| T.O.P (Landing Youth) | 398 yuan | Not in the first wave |
| TFBOYS | 398 yuan | Not in the first wave |
Korean Bubble usually sets refund rules around the billing period and around artists who go quiet. T-FAMILY users who hate the filters, the crashes, or the empty days still pay for tickets and merch locked behind the same badge. Fan posts after launch treated missing Bubble notes as a withheld delivery, and some asked for a Korean-style fee per artist so they could stop paying for names they do not want in the thread.
The bundle also changes who can say no. A trainee does not publish a separate consent for a standalone chat SKU. He is simply on the family list the high members already bought.
DearU Already Runs Bubble on QQ Music
DearU launched DearU bubble on February 7, 2020, and still sells it as a private message service for artists. Its marketing page still shows 114 agencies, 254 teams, and 570 stars as of September 30, 2025. The company’s 2025 business report, filed with the Korea Exchange on March 16, 2026, is newer and larger.
By December 31, 2025, DearU said more than 186 agencies and more than 695 IPs were on the service, with 2.04 million average subscriptions in the fourth quarter. Bubble sales were 82.3 billion won. About 70% of users sat outside Korea. App stores took 98.88% of sales. Paid-member use is 100%, because there is no free tier pretending to be a community.
In July 2025 the in-app price rose 11% to 12%, to 5,000 won at home and $4.49 abroad. In June 2025 DearU also opened QQ Music bubble with Tencent Music Entertainment Group, listing about 330 K-pop IPs and 74 C-pop IPs in the same filing. JOOX in Southeast Asia followed in December 2025. Japan had already got bubble for Japan in 2024.
THREE WAYS TO SELL CLOSENESS
| Product | How money is taken | Scale cited by the operator | Chat is sold as |
|---|---|---|---|
| DearU bubble | Monthly sub, 5,000 won at home | Q4 2025 average 2.04 million subscriptions | Standalone private messages |
| T-FAMILY Bubble | Bundled in 268 or 398 yuan VIP | First wave: Login Plan and all 4th-gen trainees | High-member extra, no single refund |
| Weverse | Community plus extra paid tools | 13.37 million monthly users in Q1 2026 | A wider club that also added paid DMs |
HYBE said Weverse averaged 13.37 million monthly users in the first quarter of 2026, up 20% from 11.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2025. In 2025, users spent 263 minutes a month on the app, and Weverse Shop sold 25.2 million items. Weverse started as a BTS club in 2019 and later added paid DMs. The two Korean routes now meet in the same place: after the clip and the shop, sell the feeling of being closer.
Times Fengjun did not plug its trainees into that licensed China Bubble. It built a club extra on a 4+ app, then hung children and teenagers on it while a Tencent Music version of the original product was already live.
The July Update Fixed the Location Leak
During the trial, fans said soloist Yu Yuhan, a former third-generation trainee born on November 24, 2006, posted a photo without a preview. People who saved the file pulled location data from it. He was 19. The same hole would have been worse on a 14-year-old’s dorm, school, or hotel shot.
Twenty-eight days after the trial note, version 5.1.8 went up. The July 3 Bubble patch said it had improved image and video sharpness, solved shooting-location display after download, and added a preview before photos and videos go out. That is the company writing the leak into its own change log, then closing the preview gap that made a casual post so cheap to strip.
Sensitive-word filters do not scrub GPS. A shield that blocks animal names while a saved story file still carries a point on the map is not artist protection. It is a content tool sitting on top of a metadata problem. Fourth-generation trainees Zuo Qihan and Zhang Guiyuan had already walked sasaengs into a police station in 2024, when they were 14. Paying for a closer window does not make those people less interested in a pin.
Yu Yuhan’s later street life did not wait for Bubble to mature. In August 2026 a clip of a parking-lot crush, a yanked car door, and a phone in his face spread again. The chat product and the street problem share a fuel: fans who want to be nearer than the stage allows.
The Fandom Intensity Has Nowhere Left to Go
On August 18, 2026, a notice at the company’s office building said concentrated trainee training would pause after crowds gathered downstairs, livestreamed, and pushed at gates. Training is the factory line for a cultivation house. When it stops, the posts, the merch shots, and the reason to renew a badge all thin out.
On September 11, 2026, TF Family FanClub said Zhang Junhao, Tong Yukun, Deng Jiaxin, Zhang Zimo, and Huang Shuo would miss later festivals and shows after “overall schedule coordination.” The Luzhou Galaxy Left Bank festival, set for October 6, said seven names were out, including Yu Yuhan and Wang Junxi. Nantong’s Zilang Lychee Festival posted its own dropouts. Yu Yuhan also put off Guangzhou dates on September 12 and 13, citing sinus bradycardia.
WHAT THE SEPTEMBER NOTICES ACTUALLY SAID
- FanClub line: Five TF_ING names are out of later festivals, framed as a schedule change.
- Luzhou line: Seven booked artists will not appear on October 6; other singers get longer sets and refunds.
- Training line: Concentrated trainee drills paused after the August crowd at the building, then were described as back.
- What is unfiled: A public culture-and-tourism order listing the whole company as frozen is not in the notices themselves.
Industry accounts said event permits got harder after fans hammered Xuzhou’s 12345 hotline for 10 days over concert staging, and after the street scenes at the training building. Treat that as pressure around the notices, not as a posted ban. The posted facts are enough: the club that just sold a closer chat also had to yank live dates and tell high members to wait.
In that gap, Bubble becomes the leftover tap. One trainee, Zhang Yiran, sent Labubu photos into the window while other channels went quiet. Other fans logged 19 days without a Bubble note and called it a debt. Filters that blocked shipping names after a boycott taught the same lesson as the 3-message cap. The company still holds the tap. The trainee still sits on it. The high member still cannot peel the chat off the badge.
Version 5.2.1 on August 31 added overseas phone numbers and did not remove Bubble. Login Plan and fourth-generation trainees remain the first people Times Fengjun chose to put in the booth. The membership still sells their nearness. The July note is the closest the store page comes to admitting what that nearness can give away.
