IFA 2026 Awards Put Tecno Ahead of Flagship Phones

IFA 2026’s award list, drawn while the Berlin show runs through September 8, puts a Tecno you cannot buy in the US over every flagship phone on the floor. The rest of the trophies went to clip-on AI, a robot mop, a $69.99 semi-solid power bank, and a $349.99 Polar watch.

That mix is the show. Europe’s big September fair is still open at Messe Berlin, and the hardware that judges wanted to single out lives in batteries, floors, meetings and sleep, not in another Galaxy or Pixel cycle.

The Awards List Has Almost No Flagship Phones

IFA opened September 4 and runs five days through September 8, the fair’s 102nd year on the Charlottenburg grounds. Organizers are aiming for about 220,000 visitors, in line with 2025, and more than 1,900 exhibitors are spread across about 190,000 square meters. GFU, which owns the IFA Berlin brand, still sells the event as the place where home and consumer tech gets its world debuts.

A Best in Show slate from the floor still found ten products worth arguing over. Samsung, Google and Apple do not appear on it. The phone trophies went to Tecno. The shipping US goods are a Belkin pack, a Motorola watch, a Lenovo laptop and, later this fall, a Roborock.

THE IFA 2026 AWARD SLATE

The pattern is blunt if you shop in the United States. You can order the battery, the watch and the laptop. You cannot walk into a US carrier store and buy the phone that took the phone awards.

Tecno Won Both Phone Trophies

Tecno, which says it operates in over 70 markets and skips the US, used IFA week to launch the Pova 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition. The collaboration is with Tonino Lamborghini S.p.A., the lifestyle house founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini’s son, not the car factory. Hardware matches the standard Pova 8 Pro that India already saw in August: a 6.78-inch 1.5K 144Hz HyperLux AMOLED panel that hits 4,500 nits peak and 1,600 nits in high brightness, a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chip, and Tecno’s own P1 graphics chip.

The limited edition is the styling and the software skin. A black-and-red rear uses a hexagonal Signature Shield and a Pulse Line camera island, plus a metallic Tonino Lamborghini mark. An Alive Matrix light panel on the back, built from 177 LEDs, handles incoming calls and notifications without flipping the phone. Tecno added exclusive boot animations, dynamic wallpapers, a black-and-red icon pack and a custom ringtone.

The 6,500mAh pack is 7.39mm in a 189g body and charges at 45W. Tecno’s own tests put battery health over 80% after 2,000 full cycles and claim normal operation from -20C to 60C. A 5,000 square millimeter vapor chamber sits in a stack Tecno rates above 22,000 square millimeters of heat spreading. The cameras are a 50MP Sony LYT-700C with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide and a 13MP front camera. Gorilla Glass 7i covers the front. The company lists IP69, IP69K, IP68 and IP66 ratings, two major Android upgrades from HiOS 16, and three years of security patches.

Indonesia is already selling the 8GB/256GB Lamborghini cut at 6,299,000 rupiah, 300,000 rupiah above the regular 5,999,000 rupiah model. There is still no US price because there is still no US phone.

Too often, phone makers choose the safest option even at the loss of individuality.

The same statement describes a dual-chipset architecture with a P1 Graphic Chip meant to hold 144fps in supported lighter titles and 90fps in heavier ones. That is a gaming brief wearing Italian badges, and it is the phone IFA’s awards treated as the one to beat.

Tecno’s own account also said the brand took two IFA Global Product Technology Innovation golds, for a modular ultra-slim phone and a Tonino Lamborghini TAURUS mini gaming PC. Those are separate from the awards slate, and they show how much of the company’s Berlin spend sat outside the US flagship fight.

Why a 0mm Bezel Still Needs a Frame

Tecno’s other phone trophy is not a product. The Borderless Concept, shown at IFA ShowStoppers, pushes the front glass to a claimed 0mm black border on a 6.78-inch 144Hz 1.5K panel. The company says it got there with new internal stacking and screen packaging, so the image meets the aluminum instead of dying in a dark rim.

Hands-on time on the floor found the usual worry, false palm touches, less messy than expected. The leftover problem is the frame that is still there. A metal lip remains around the glass, thick enough that a thumb catching the back gesture snags the edge. A thick case would hide the whole trick anyway. Tecno calls the device a concept and prototype. A 6,000mAh battery is in the demo unit. It is not coming home in a box.

Meeting Recorders Now Wear Clip-Ons and E-Paper

If the phone awards are a styling exercise, the AI awards are a work tool dump. Four of the ten trophies record speech, score sleep, or tap to pay, and none of them need a new flagship SoC to do it.

THE AI THAT LEFT THE PHONE

• AeroClip 2 Pro: Anker’s open-ear clip uses the THUS on-device chip to record meetings, calls and in-person talk, then transcribe and summarize them; the non-Pro AeroClip 2 is listed at $169.99 from September 22.
• Flowtica Verso: A 98g MagSafe e-paper slab at $299, due in Q4 2026, isolates up to 15 speakers from 16.4 feet with four MEMS mics plus a bone sensor and keeps summaries on a 259 ppi always-on face for about 72 hours per charge.
• SleepLab: Anker’s first bedside sleep speaker uses warm light, guided breathing and more than 180 sounds with no subscription; the SleepLab Pro adds 60 GHz radar for heart rate, breathing and four sleep stages with nothing on the body.
• Circular Ring 3 Pro: Titanium ring with NFC payments, haptic alarms, an FDA-cleared ECG for AFib, blood-pressure trends and a jump from 7 days of battery to 12, shipping in early 2027 at a price Circular has not set.

Verso is the odd one in an e-ink category, because the job is recording, not novels. Flowtica’s own page calls it a card-sized e-paper companion that magnets to a phone, hangs on a lanyard, or sits on a desk. Storage is 64GB. A recording light on the face cannot be switched off, and there is no camera. Early sign-ups are offered 25% off. Transcription still runs in Flowtica’s cloud, so the $299 brick is also a service relationship.

Circular is trying to stop the usual smart-ring split between health stats and a wallet. The Pro is 6.8mm wide and 2.78mm thick, water-rated to 50 meters, and sized 6 through 14 in gold, rose gold, silver and black. Visa and Mastercard taps sit next to medication buzzes. Blood-pressure and glucose trend claims will need real wear before they mean much, and the wait until early 2027 is long for a show that is happening now.

$69.99 Puts Semi-Solid Cells in a Pocket

Belkin’s UltraCharge Pro packs are the accessory you can actually buy in September, and they are the clearest hardware shift on the list. BoostSolid Cell is semi-solid, not solid-state. Belkin’s launch note says a gel-like layer alongside the liquid electrolyte lets the pack stay thinner, hold up longer, and cut swelling and fire risk versus a normal liquid cell.

• $89.99 10K: Dual USB-C up to 60W on one port, a USB-A port, 40W input, and a display for charge, output and heat; Belkin calls the body 27% slimmer.
• 1,000 cycles: The 3x-longer claim is cycle life, with up to 80% capacity kept after 1,000 charges, or about five years if you drain it every two days.
• 0-40C watchdogs: Analog and digital sensors check the cell every 250 milliseconds and can cut power; Belkin cites UL2056:2025 and TSA carry-on rules.

The 10K pack is rated to take an iPhone 17 Pro to 50% in about 24 minutes and to refill itself in as little as two hours. Colors are black and sand. This is not a lab chemistry breakthrough landing in a $1,000 phone. It is a $69.99 object on Amazon this month, which is why it belongs on a show list more than another concept slab.

A Continuously Washed Roller at 36,000 Pa

Roborock’s Saros 20 Flow Complete is the home robot the awards treated as the mop to beat. Suction is 36,000Pa. Obstacle software is rated on more than 300 object types. The mop is a roller that rinses itself with fresh water while it works, so a dirty pad is not dragged across the next meter of tile.

Roborock’s SpiraFlow 2.0 setup spins that roller at 240 rpm, presses at 15N, and feeds it from 16 pressurized nozzles. A sliding mop edge is meant to close the usual gap along baseboards. The body is 8.98cm tall with the lidar tower dropped, and AdaptiLift Traverse 3.0 is rated to climb 8.8cm, or 3.46 inches. The dock washes with water at 100C (212F).

US pricing is still missing. Roborock has pointed to a November arrival, in time for holiday floors. German retail listings already showed 1,299 euros. A separate Roborock, the F25 Pro Turbo Combo, picked up an IFA Innovation Award nod in smart home, which is a reminder that the company’s Berlin stand was larger than one trophy.

WHAT WE KNOW

• US window: The Flow Complete is slated for November, with no dollar MSRP in the launch brief.
• EU listing: German shops have shown 1,299 euros for the same nameplate.
• Circular wait: The Ring 3 Pro is an early 2027 product with no price.

WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED

• AeroClip 2 Pro US price: European listings have shown 179.99 euros while other quotes sat at $230; Anker’s own IFA note did not lock a dollar figure for the transcription model.
• SleepLab ticket: Anker has not published a US price for the bedside speaker.
• Tecno US SKU: Nothing in the September 4 launch points to a carrier or retail date in the United States.

Until those three prices land, the mop is a fall preorder story in the US and a floor demo in Berlin.

What the Moto Watch Ultra Costs in the US

Motorola used IFA to put a Wear OS watch under the Ultra name at $349.99, with US sales on Motorola.com starting September 10. Polar handles the fitness stack. The 46mm stainless case holds a 1.5-inch OLED at 2,700 nits, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip, dual-band GPS, Google Wallet, LTE eSIM, IP68 and 5ATM. Motorola rates battery life at up to two days of active use with the always-on display off, and 24 hours after a 15-minute charge. Bands are standard 22mm, in silicone or leather.

That dollar figure is the comparison. It undercuts the usual Samsung and Google Ultra tickets while keeping Play Store apps and adding Polar fitness and wellness insights that already have a following among runners. Motorola’s Qira assistant rides along. Two days is still short next to a dedicated Polar watch, and it is long next to many Wear OS launches.

Lenovo’s other cheap computer play is sitting on the same awards list. The 14- and 15-inch IdeaPad Vibe lineup starts at $699.99, with Ryzen or Qualcomm Snapdragon options, 8GB of RAM in the base config, and a path up to 32GB. Color is the pitch, the same idea Apple used on a $699 laptop, executed as a Windows and Snapdragon choice set rather than a single SKU.

Five Brands Walk Into One Anker Store

Two trophies on the slate, the AeroClip 2 Pro and the SleepLab, sit inside a larger Anker move that will outlast any single gadget. On September 3 the company said Anker, eufy, soundcore, SOLIX and eufyMake will fold under one name, Anker, after almost 15 years of split badges. Anker dates the first battery product to 2011 and now cites more than 200 million customers in over 180 countries.

Category brands made sense when categories were separate. They no longer are.

New products lead the rename. Old ones shift later. Warranties stay. The catalog splits as Anker For You (charging, audio, personal health, creative tools) and Anker for Home (security, robots, energy). The first standalone Anker store opened September 5 on Berlin’s Ku’damm, laid out in those two groups so a hub, a camera and a vacuum can be shown as one setup. Yang called the shop a way to put the unified brand in front of people who have only seen Anker in a charging aisle.

THUS, the on-device audio chip Anker introduced in May, is the glue for the ear products. MindBase, a local home hub with expandable storage, is the glue for the house. Neither won a trophy on this particular list. They are why Anker could take two categories in one week without looking like a charging-cable company that wandered into earbuds.

IFA remains open through September 8. The packs, the watch and the $699.99 laptop are the pieces you can actually put on a card before the halls go dark. The Tecno that won the phone argument stays on other continents, and the 0mm concept stays in a glass case, which is a fair summary of where this show put its energy.
