Oppo Sells Malaysia a Compact Reno16 Pro Plus Bubble
Oppo’s Malaysia Reno16 Pro is a compact 6.32-inch phone, not the China Pro, and the Bubble still needs a magnetic ring to stick.
Oppo Malaysia put the Reno16 Pro, Reno16 and Reno16 F on sale on July 8, 2026, from RM1,999. The Pro is a 6.32-inch phone with a 200MP main camera. The F carries a 7,000mAh cell. A magnetic AMOLED puck called the Bubble Mag E-Badge launched beside them.
The Pro Malaysians can buy is a compact global phone, not the larger China Reno16 Pro, and the Bubble still needs a ring from the box because these phones have no built-in magnets.
Malaysia Got a Compact Reno16 Pro
Oppo showed the Reno16 family in China on May 25, 2026, then a global set on June 25. Malaysia’s event followed on July 8 at a five-day roadshow in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya. The local Pro is the global compact set, model CPH2863, in Pop White and Starlight Black.
That Pro uses a 6.32-inch Crystal Guard AMOLED at 2640×1216, listed at 600 nits typical and 1,800 nits in high brightness. Refresh steps are 60, 90, 120 and 144Hz, and Oppo says 144Hz works in some game scenes only. The body is about 151.2 × 72.4 × 8.2 mm and 188g in black, 191g in white.
China’s Pro used a 6.78-inch panel and a Dimensity 9500s chip with a 7,000mAh pack. Malaysia’s Pro steps down to a Dimensity 8550 Super and a 6,700mAh typical cell (6,490mAh rated). The trade is size and a higher refresh cap, not a like-for-like flagship move.
Dimensity 8550 Super chipset details match the clocks Oppo quotes: one Cortex-A725 at 3.4GHz, three at 3.2GHz, four at 2.2GHz, and a Mali-G720 MC8 GPU. RAM is 12GB LPDDR5X. Storage in Malaysia is 256GB UFS 3.1, even though Oppo’s global spec sheet also lists 12GB plus 512GB.
Pop White uses HoloVerse 3D, which Oppo describes as millions of micro-lenses that rebuild light so a nebula pattern appears to float on the back. That finish is exclusive to Pop White. Other colours get a different treatment, and the F’s Pop White uses a transparent moulded back instead of the series’ usual one-piece cold-sculpted cover.
Three Reno16 Bets on Camera, Chip, and Battery
The Malaysian range is three different phones, not three trims of one. The Pro sells the 200MP sensor and the compact body. The mid Reno16 keeps the same 6.32-inch size and a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. The F grows the screen to 6.57 inches and the cell to 7,000mAh, then cuts the ultrawide to 8MP and the memory type to LPDDR4X.
MALAYSIA RENO16 LINEUP
| Model | Display | Chipset | Battery | Official price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reno16 Pro 5G | 6.32-inch, 144Hz AMOLED | Dimensity 8550 Super | 6,700mAh | RM3,699 (12GB+256GB) |
| Reno16 5G | 6.32-inch, 120Hz AMOLED | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 | 6,700mAh | RM2,699 or RM2,999 |
| Reno16 F 5G | 6.57-inch, 120Hz AMOLED | Dimensity 7300-Energy | 7,000mAh | RM1,999 or RM2,299 |
All three run ColorOS 16 on Android 16, charge at 80W SUPERVOOC in Malaysia, and carry IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. Each has a 50MP front camera with a 100-degree field of view and a 50MP telephoto with about 3.5x optical zoom. The Pro’s main camera is 200MP with OIS. The Reno16 uses three 50MP rear cameras. The F keeps 50MP on the main and telephoto and drops the ultrawide to 8MP.
Oppo’s global note on 3D Pop Planet Design and AI imaging frames the series around shooting and editing, not around matching China silicon. Reno16 and Reno16 F come in Pop White, Twilight Violet and Dream Purple. The Pro skips Twilight Violet and Dream Purple.
7,000mAh Lands in the RM1,999 Phone
The F undercuts the Pro by RM1,700 at the 8GB starting prices (RM3,699 versus RM1,999) and still ships the largest cell in the family. Oppo rates that pack at 7,000mAh typical and 6,850mAh rated. The Pro and the mid Reno16 stop at 6,700mAh typical.
Malaysia did not slow the F’s charger to create a gap. It still lists 80W SUPERVOOC, the same headline rate as the Pro. One PCMark Work 3.1 run at full brightness lasted 15 hours 2 minutes on the F, which is the kind of figure the 7,000mAh pitch has to beat.
The cheaper phone pays for that cell elsewhere. It uses LPDDR4X instead of LPDDR5X, a Dimensity 7300-Energy chip, and that 8MP ultrawide. Buyers who want the compact 6.32-inch body still have to step to the Reno16 or the Pro. Buyers who want two extra days of commuting power are looking at the F, which is the odd “budget” model with the endurance spec the Pro brochure would rather own.
Oppo Bubble Still Needs a Magnetic Ring
The accessory Oppo put on the same stage is a 7mm, 27.5g puck with a 1.73-inch circular AMOLED viewfinder at 466×466 and 600 nits. It is a live rear-camera monitor, a 10-metre remote shutter, and a clip-on badge for bags and belts. Camera zoom on the puck is 0.6x, 1x, 2x and 3.5x, matching the phones’ ultrawide, main and 3.5x telephoto.
OPPO Bubble attaches magnetically to compatible cases or magnetic rings and features a vibrant AMOLED display that functions as a real-time rear-camera monitor.
OPPO, Reno16 Series global press note, June 25, 2026
The ring is the catch. Oppo ships a magnetic ring in the Bubble box and tells you to stick it on the phone or the case. The Reno16 phones do not have Qi2 magnets in the back, so the “snap on” demo is a sticker job. Pairing is automatic when a ColorOS phone is closer than 20cm. Official support at launch is the Reno16 Series and the Find X9 Series, with more models promised by software update.
OPPO LAB BUBBLE RUNTIME
- Static carousel: 25.33 hours at medium brightness, 16.08 hours at high brightness.
- Live 1x preview: 9.66 hours at medium brightness with a shutter press every 10 seconds, 8.54 hours at high.
- Battery and charge: 550mAh cell, USB-C, no cable in some boxes.
- Build: IP54, 7mm thick, 27.5g, silver finish in Malaysia.
Inside is a BES 2800 chip, 4GB of storage, Bluetooth 5.2 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Custom faces take JPEG and PNG stills, 3-second motion photos, and MP4 clips from 1 to 5 seconds, up to 20 files in a carousel. Interactive pet wallpapers respond to taps. That is the fashion half of the pitch, the “e-badge” Oppo wants on a strap when you are not framing a rear selfie.
WHAT THE PUCK WILL AND WILL NOT DO
- Rear selfies: Live preview from the main, ultrawide or telephoto so you stop guessing the rear camera.
- Remote control: Viewfinder and shutter up to 10 metres, with a 10-second timer on some listings.
- Oppo lock: Magnets can sit on a Qi2 phone, including some iPhones, but the camera app is a ColorOS feature.
- No tap-to-focus: The touchscreen sets brightness and shutter, not a full camera UI.
Malaysia’s official store price is RM349. The IOI City Mall roadshow sold it at RM299. In China the same puck was 499 yuan. The hardware is a small-screen bet already occupied by Honor and Insta360 mini-screen accessories, and Oppo’s version is the one that still asks you to glue a ring onto a phone that was just sold as compact.
Reno Gets an AI Snap Key
ColorOS 16 on this series adds a side AI Snap Key for the first time on a Reno. A short press grabs what is on screen into AI Mind Space. Oppo also lists a long press for a voice note and a double press to open that hub. AI Bill Manager files digital payments and paper receipts. AI Mind Pilot routes jobs across models and can show two answers side by side. AI Menu Translation adds pictures of dishes, not only text, on foreign menus.
CAMERA AND VIDEO TOOLS IN COLOROS 16
- Pop Cam: One-tap Digicam, Instant Film and Light Leak looks inside the Camera app.
- AI Remix Collage: Layers photos or short clips with stickers, outlines and text, and can lift a moving subject from a Motion Photo.
- Popout Collage 2.0: Lets a subject break out of the frame in more than one direction.
- Video: 4K Auto Straighten while walking, plus Dual View Video 2.0 with lens switching on the rear cameras.
AI LinkBoost 4.0 is Oppo’s name for cleaner radios in a crowded hall. AI HyperBoost 3.0 is the frame-pacing layer on the Pro. None of this needs the Bubble. The puck is optional theatre for the same 50MP and 200MP cameras the phones already have.
What the Putrajaya Roadshow Cut
Oppo named BABYMONSTER as a Reno ambassador in selected markets and used concert tickets as the hall prize. Pre-order gifts were listed up to RM1,198, including a BABYMONSTER limited bundle or a gift box. My Oppo app users were offered extra rebates, a free one-year extended warranty and vouchers, with the usual terms.
IOI CITY MALL PRICES, JULY 8 TO 12
- July 8, 2026: Malaysia launch and roadshow open at LG West Court, IOI City Mall, Putrajaya.
- Roadshow Pro: RM3,299, RM400 off the RM3,699 list.
- Roadshow Reno16: RM2,299 for 8GB+256GB and RM2,599 for 12GB+256GB, RM400 off each.
- Roadshow F: RM1,699 for 8GB+256GB and RM1,999 for 12GB+256GB, RM300 off each.
- July 12, 2026: Five-day hall offer ends; Bubble at RM299, Enco Air5 from RM149, Enco Air5s from RM199.
Those hall prices were a five-day window, not the list. Oppo Malaysia’s store still showed the Pro at RM3,699, with trade-in savings listed up to RM1,350 and an extra RM100 off through an education programme. The F’s 8GB phone had an online promo at RM1,899 in the launch week, against RM1,999 in shops.
Oppo Is Already Giving the Bubble Away
The louder problem with the puck is not the 27.5g. It is that full camera use is an Oppo-software feature on a short list of phones, while the ring workaround exists because the Reno16 backs still have no magnets. Three months after the Putrajaya hall closed, that accessory is already a free add-on in another market.

Malaysia still asks RM349, or RM299 if you caught the mall. The compact Pro remains the 200MP, 6.32-inch phone at RM3,699. The F remains the 7,000mAh phone at RM1,999. The Bubble remains a second screen you stick on a phone Oppo just made smaller.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Do You Attach the Oppo Bubble to a Reno16?
Oppo packs a magnetic ring in the Bubble box. You stick that ring on the glass back or on a case, then the 27.5g puck snaps to the ring. A ColorOS phone closer than 20cm should pop a pairing card; past about 1 metre that card does not appear, per Oppo Lab notes. The puck fills its round screen by default and a double-tap restores the phone’s aspect ratio with blurred sides.
Is the Malaysia Reno16 Pro the Same Phone as China’s?
No. Malaysia’s Pro is the global compact CPH2863 with a 6.32-inch 144Hz panel, a Dimensity 8550 Super, and a 6,700mAh typical battery. China’s Pro used a 6.78-inch screen, a Dimensity 9500s, and a 7,000mAh pack. Malaysia sells one memory cut, 12GB plus 256GB. Oppo’s global sheet also lists 12GB plus 512GB, which was not in the Malaysian price card.
How Long Does the Oppo Bubble Last as a Live Viewfinder?
Oppo Lab quotes 9.66 hours at medium brightness when the puck is tied to the phone’s rear 1x camera and you press the shutter every 10 seconds, or 8.54 hours at high brightness. Leave it as a static image carousel and the same 550mAh cell is quoted at 25.33 hours medium and 16.08 hours high. Those are lab figures, not a day in full sun at 600 nits.
What Extra Hardware Does the Reno16 Pro Use for On-Device AI?
MediaTek’s Dimensity 8550 page lists an NPU 880 with an LLM booster and Gemini Nano V3 support, plus a display path up to WQHD+ at 144Hz. That is the silicon under ColorOS 16 features such as AI Mind Pilot on the Malaysian Pro, separate from the Bubble’s own BES 2800 chip.
