Offset Returns to Promoting Freecash on Instagram Stories
Offset returned to promoting Freecash, the rewards app that pays users $2 to $5 per hour. Here is what his pitch leaves out about the actual payouts.
Offset has returned to promoting Freecash, the Berlin-based rewards app, on his Instagram Stories. According to Complex, the rapper shared photos from what appears to be a boat last week and claimed he was inspired to “bless more people” after seeing how much some Freecash users allegedly made. It is the second time in a few months that Offset has pushed the app to his followers, per Complex’s June 30 report.
He later walked back the upside, writing that “it ain’t instant but if u put some work in u can make a couple hunnid a week.” Independent reviews of Freecash put casual earnings at a fraction of that hourly rate, with most offers paying a dollar or less. The platform behind the pitch has spent more than $100 million on user acquisition in 2026 alone, and its iOS app sat at number 2 in the US App Store earlier in the year.
Offset’s Pitch, in His Own Words
On his Instagram Stories, Offset posted a sequence of photos from what looks like a boat and framed the app push as a giveaway to his audience. The rapper told followers the app would pay them to play games on their phone and that higher levels would pay out more cash. He then linked out with a single-line hook: “PLAY GAMES & MAKE 💰.”
Hours later, Offset sent a clarification. The rapper told followers earnings were not immediate, citing a possible “couple hunnid a week” for users willing to put in work. He described Freecash as “a way to play games and make bread” for people already on their phones. The link to sign up sat on his next Story.
It ain’t instant but if u put some work in u can make a couple hunnid a week.
That line appeared on Offset’s Instagram Stories. The rapper posted it on his account, per Complex’s June 30 report on Offset’s return to the app.
What Freecash Is, and Who Runs It
Freecash is a get-paid-to site, also called a rewards app, that pays members in cash, gift cards, or crypto for completing offers, surveys, and short tasks. The commercial model is simple: advertisers, mostly mobile gaming studios, pay Freecash to deliver engaged users to their apps. The platform shares a slice of that advertiser revenue with the people who complete the requested action. Payouts flow through PayPal, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or a Stake gambling balance.
The tasks themselves run across six formats:
- Reach level X in a mobile game
- Take a 5 to 30 minute survey
- Sign up for a website with email verification
- Try a free trial of a service
- Watch a short ad video
- Complete a microtask like image labeling
The platform has been live since 2020 and has paid out more than $300 million to 70 million-plus registered users, per a 2026 review of Freecash’s payout economics. Trustpilot holds the brand at 4.7 stars across 276,000-plus reviews.
The Financial Times FT1000 list ranked the parent company third among Europe’s fastest-growing companies in 2025. Freecash is the flagship product of Almedia GmbH, a Berlin-based adtech firm. Almedia was founded in April 2020.
Almedia was co-founded by Moritz Holländer and Jan Sommerfeld, both still managing directors. The company’s core trade is rewarded user acquisition, paying end users to install and engage with advertiser apps. Freecash is the consumer-facing front for that business, per Almedia’s own explainer of how Freecash fits the company’s adtech business. The firm employs 73 or more people.
The Hourly Math Behind “a Couple Hunnid a Week”
Freecash runs on coins, with roughly 1,000 coins equaling one US dollar. Independent reviewers estimate that casual users make between $2 and $5 per hour, mostly from surveys and small offers. Active users who chase higher-payout game installs and free trials can clear $5 to $20 per day, with one-off windfalls of $20 to $80 from the largest game grinds or finance-app signup offers.
| Method | Minimum cash-out | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal | $5 (5,000 coins) | ~5% |
| Gift cards | $5 | Free |
| Crypto | Sub-$1 | Free |
| Stake balance | $0.10 to $1 | Free |
The biggest payouts on the platform, the game-level grinds and free-trial signups, can pay $5 to $50 each, and the very largest offers pay up to $3,000. Survey screen-out rates eat 20 to 40 percent of the surveys a user starts, a friction that does not appear in the influencer pitch.
First cashouts require $5 to $20 minimum regardless of method, depending on region. After that, users can pull smaller amounts. The PayPal and bank-transfer routes carry a roughly 5 percent fee. Crypto, gift cards, and Stake cashouts do not charge anything.
Almedia’s $100 Million Year, and Apple’s April Removal
Apple removed the Freecash iOS app from the App Store on April 13, 2026, with no advance notice or detailed explanation. The company’s founder and CEO disclosed the removal in a public LinkedIn post the next day, calling the lack of warning “surprising and frustrating.” The move came after a year in which Almedia had spent more than $100 million on user acquisition across DSPs, television, and social media.
The platform had reached number 2 on the US iOS App Store overall charts for multiple consecutive weeks. Freecash had grown by 12 million new iOS users in 2026 alone before the removal. Daily user payouts topped $1 million. Existing iOS users can still reach Freecash via the mobile web, but the native app is what carries discoverability and most of the engagement loop.
Almedia has filed an appeal through Apple’s official route and is pushing for what Holländer called a structural fix to how the App Store treats rewarded user-acquisition platforms. Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework has separately drawn regulatory heat, with the French competition authority ruling in March 2025 that ATT’s implementation was anticompetitive. Holländer framed the standoff as a question of platform rules catching up to a category of apps.
Key dates in the run-up to Offset’s June promotion:

Why the Influencer Funnel Matters
Almedia’s 70 million-plus registered users did not arrive by accident. The platform operates affiliate links and creator codes that pay influencers per signup, install, or completed action. Offset’s Stories include that kind of trackable link. Each click carries a referral tag the platform can match to the user who signs up, plays the offer, and hits a cash-out threshold.
The “couple hunnid a week” figure Offset cited in his clarification is technically reachable on Freecash, but only for users who pick the highest-paying game grinds and finance-app free trials, play for several hours a day, and avoid survey screen-outs. The marketing language sells the ceiling, not the median. Most casual users will not crack $50 a week without sustained hours on the platform.
That gap is where the creator-economy business model quietly sits. Influencers and advertisers both come out ahead on each click. The end user follows the celebrity pitch into a system that, after fees and screen-outs, leaves them with a coin balance far smaller than the headline number. Offset’s “if u already on ur phone might as well go run it up” framing recasts that arithmetic as a convenience for the user.
