Trinity Glassfille Joins the BlazBlue Game That Never Left

Trinity Glassfille will join BlazBlue: Central Fiction on PS4 and Steam, the first new fighter since 2017 for a game that never left EVO.

Arc System Works named Trinity Glassfille as BlazBlue: Central Fiction’s first new fighter since August 2017, at EVO 2026 in Las Vegas. The platinum alchemist will arrive as downloadable content on PlayStation 4 and Steam, with Nintendo Switch left off the list and no ship date on the post.

Central Fiction still ran a Top 8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and that live bracket is why a new character was worth building.

Trinity Glassfille Was Named Before the EVO Top 8

The identity drop came on June 27, 2026, before the BlazBlue: Central Fiction Top 8, four days after update producer Riku Ozawa told the Arc System Works Showcase 2026 that a returning main-series figure was in the works. EVO ran June 26 to 28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Ozawa had already said the team settled on the extra character so recently that it had no in-game footage to show, and he still wanted the news out before the weekend’s matches.

The development for this additional character was just settled very recently. Normally, we should wait to make the announcement until we have footage of the character in-game. This time, however, I wanted to share with everyone that we are working on this as soon as I could, so we’ve made this announcement without gameplay footage.

Arc System Works America posted the name with the series tagline still attached, and the clip is a recap of old matches, anime cuts, and a new illustration, not a move list.

The studio’s line on Steam is that the platinum alchemist joins the battle after appearing from the early stages of the story, with the new portrait drawn by series creator Toshimichi Mori. Players were told to stay tuned for update timing and details. Hukku, entered as hukku_320, won the same event’s Central Fiction bracket, with Fenritti in second and XCaliburBladez in third, so the first night of the new era was still played on the old select screen.

The Game That Never Left the Las Vegas Bracket

Ozawa thanked “fans around the world who have kept the game alive,” and the calendar behind that line is a tournament title, not a museum disc. Central Fiction opened in Japanese arcades on November 19, 2015, as the close of the main Azure saga. It was an official EVO 2026 game for the third time, sitting on the same twelve-title card as Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and Guilty Gear Strive.

The online half of that survival is easier to date. After a public test in December 2021, Arc System Works America put a Rollback Netcode support update on Steam on February 1, 2022, and said the beta had already pushed active users past the game’s own record. A later Steam post on March 8, 2022, published the full notes, including rollback for all online modes and a cut in install size from 50GB to 18GB.

THE BBCF CALENDAR THAT NEVER CLOSED

  1. November 19, 2015: Japanese arcades get Central Fiction as the end of the main story.
  2. October 6, 2016: PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions launch in Japan, then North America on November 1 and Europe on November 4.
  3. April 26, 2017: The Windows build opens on Steam.
  4. July 16, 2017: Jubei is revealed at EVO, then ships in Japan and North America on August 31.
  5. February 7, 2019: Nintendo Switch Special Edition arrives in Japan and the United States, with Europe on February 8, bundling the fighters already out.
  6. February 1, 2022: Rollback goes live on Steam after the December 2021 public test.
  7. June 24, 2026: Ozawa teases a new fighter with no name and no footage.
  8. June 27, 2026: Trinity Glassfille is named before the EVO Top 8.

English Steam reviews sit at 95 percent positive across 4,841 ratings, marked Overwhelmingly Positive, which is a loud score for a 2017 PC port that still had a main-stage slot nine summers later. Cross Tag Battle and later spinoffs took the franchise name into new systems. They did not take this game’s EVO chair.

Who Trinity Glassfille Is in BlazBlue

Trinity is not a fresh design cooked up for a comeback trailer. She is one of the Six Heroes who fought the Black Beast in the Great Dark War, a mage from the Mage’s Guild who studied beside Nine the Phantom, and the former owner of the Nox Nyctores Arma Reboare: Muchourin, a weapon that can materialize matter. The Steam post calls her the Platinum Alchemist for that talent, and describes a gentle person who treats even hostile people kindly and then draws the short straw for it.

Players have already met her in pieces. Her soul was sealed in Muchourin and later shared the body of Platinum the Trinity with Luna and Sena, so a version of her voice has been in matches since Continuum Shift, while Trinity herself stayed in story scenes, novels, and arcade dialogue. Central Fiction even gave her character-select artwork while leaving her locked, a tease shared with almost no one else on that wheel. Mori’s new illustration is built to sit next to Yuuki Kato’s older select portraits rather than fight them, which is how you add one more face to a grid that has not moved since 2017.

All Six Heroes Will Finally Be Selectable

The Six Heroes are Hakumen, Nine the Phantom, Jubei, Valkenhayn R. Hellsing, Yuuki Terumi, and Trinity Glassfille. Five of those names already fight in Central Fiction as themselves or as the bodies they have used for years. Platinum was the workaround for Trinity, a different fighter with a child’s frame and a three-soul gag, not the alchemist in glasses. Naming Trinity as her own entry closes that set on the same game that already holds the other five.

THE LAST NAMES ON THE HERO LIST

  • Hakumen: Selectable in Central Fiction from launch as the hero in the Susanoo Unit.
  • Nine the Phantom: Added during Central Fiction’s own rollout as a time-release fighter.
  • Jubei: The last new body before Trinity, shipped on August 31, 2017.
  • Valkenhayn R. Hellsing: Already on the launch wheel as the beastkin butler.
  • Yuuki Terumi: Present through Hazama and later forms; the traitor of the six, not the missing one.
  • Trinity Glassfille: Story fixture since the early games, now the first new selectable name since Jubei.

That is the lore logic hiding under the trailer. A studio that already let Jubei, another Six Heroes veteran, onto the same disc is finishing the group on the disc that competitive players never put down.

Only Two Platforms Are on the List

The Japanese reveal trailer is blunt: character additions through this update are only for PlayStation 4 and Steam. Switch is not named. Arcade cabinets in Japan are not named. PlayStation 3, which shared a 2016 SKU with PS4, is not named. The 2019 Switch Special Edition was sold as the complete pack of every fighter then in the game, Jubei included, and then that line stopped getting the systems work that followed.

WHERE TRINITY WILL ACTUALLY LAND

Platform First release 2022 rollback Trinity DLC
Arcade (Japan) November 19, 2015 No No
PlayStation 3 October 6, 2016 (Japan) No No
PlayStation 4 October 6, 2016 (Japan) No Yes
Steam April 26, 2017 Yes Yes
Nintendo Switch February 7, 2019 No No

Rollback that made long-distance sets tolerable is a Steam story. Trinity is a Steam and PS4 story. A PS4 copy can gain the new fighter without the 2022 netcode pass, while a Switch copy, which already missed that pass, misses her too. People who bought the Special Edition as the one version that bundled every DLC now own the build that will not receive the first new name in nearly nine years. That split is the cost of following the fork the majors already play on.

Jubei’s 2017 Path Looks Familiar

Arc System Works has run this play at EVO before. After the Central Fiction finals at EVO 2017, the company put Jubei as a playable character on the same series, another Six Heroes name that had spent the early games in cutscenes. He is a small, fast swordsman with fireballs, and he was sold as the fan-request veteran the roster still lacked. The Japanese consumer page lists the Jubei DLC dated August 31, 2017, for the home versions, matching the Japan and North America day, with Europe on September 4.

WHAT THE LAST NEW FIGHTER LOOKED LIKE

  • The stage: Both names were saved for EVO, Jubei on July 16, 2017, and Trinity on June 27, 2026.
  • The wait in lore: Both were Six Heroes who had been visible for years without a slot on the select screen.
  • The ship window: Jubei left the show floor and reached stores on August 31, 2017. Trinity’s Steam post still has no day.
  • The footage gap: Ozawa skipped gameplay because production had only just been approved, which is a colder start than Jubei’s 2017 trailer cycle.

Jubei was also the third extra body Central Fiction received after Es and Mai Natsume, and the last one the C-series added. From that August 31 ship date to the Trinity name is 8 years, 9 months, and 27 days, the stretch every recap is rounding to nearly nine years. Repeating the EVO ritual for the last missing Hero only makes sense if the 2017 game is still the one you put on a big screen.

The Wait After the Trailer

The safer patch for a scene this old is a new body on the old rules. Low-tier names already show up in Top 8s, so a wide balance rewrite would scramble the thing players actually kept alive. An English dub tagged to the new fighter is a separate wish list item, and it is not in the Steam post. Switch owners are not going to see her on the current plan, and that complaint has not been answered with a later SKU.

WHAT WE KNOW

  • The name: Trinity Glassfille was confirmed on June 27, 2026, before the EVO Top 8.
  • The platforms: PlayStation 4 and Steam are the only versions listed for the character update.
  • The art: Toshimichi Mori drew the new illustration released with the trailer.
  • The footage: The reveal clip has no playable moves, and Ozawa said the team still needed time to show any.

WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED

  • The day she ships: The June 27 Steam news asks players to wait for update timing, and no later official post has named a day.
  • How she plays: Alchemy and barrier magic are lore, not a posted movelist.
  • A balance pass: Nothing in the announcement says the rest of the cast will be retuned around her.
  • Switch and arcade: Neither version is in the current character-update line.

Ozawa asked for patience until the team has something that matches the wait. Hukku lifted the EVO trophy on a roster that still ended at Jubei. The first major that lets Trinity onto the stick will be the first Central Fiction bracket with a new name on the character select since August 2017.
