The Kingdom Hearts 4 teaser arrived during the June 9, 2026 Nintendo Direct and put Square Enix’s next numbered RPG back in front of players. Square Enix confirmed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC plans for Kingdom Hearts IV, but it still has not announced a release date.

The dated product is Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III]. Square Enix’s store lists that bundle for October 8, 2026, with the price line reading from $74.99, while Sora’s new chapter remains undated.

The New Teaser Leaves the Date Blank

The update landed inside the June presentation archive, where Nintendo’s spotlight page lists Kingdom Hearts IV as coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and asks what is next for Sora. GamerBraves reported that the trailer showed Sora fighting Heartless through city streets using his Keyblade.

Gematsu reported that Kingdom Hearts IV will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store when it launches. It also reported that a release date was not announced, leaving no release date attached to the sequel.

Nintendo’s press release described Kingdom Hearts IV as an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. It said the new footage gives a look at characters Sora will meet in Quadratum, and that Sora will journey to realms where new figures cross his path and new powers awaken his next chapter.

A Dated Collection Sits Beside an Undated Sequel

Square Enix gave the collection the calendar slot the sequel still lacks. Nintendo’s June 9 release said Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] launches on Nintendo Switch 2 October 8, and Square Enix’s own store page gives the fuller date as October 8, 2026.

Those two announcements arrived together, but they answer different player questions. One names Sora’s next destination and platforms; the other names the games people can buy first.

Title Date Status Platform Status
Kingdom Hearts IV A release date was not announced PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC storefronts are named
Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] October 8, 2026 PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Microsoft Store are listed across current reports

What Collection [I~III] Actually Contains

Square Enix put the bundle details on the Collection product listing, which describes Collection [I~III] as a value packed bundle featuring three collections. The listed pieces are Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC).

Gematsu’s Square Enix overview adds that all three titles will also be available to purchase separately. Nintendo’s release said the Collection lets players join Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy as they travel through Disney and Pixar worlds.

Package What It Covers Named Pieces
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX Four full games, with two additional story experiences Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, 358/2 Days cinematics, Birth by Sleep Final Mix, Re:Coded cinematics
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Games that focus on Sora, Riku and Aqua and set up the saga climax Dream Drop Distance HD, χ Back Cover movie, 0.2 Birth by Sleep A fragmentary passage
Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind The climax of the Dark Seeker Saga with DLC included Kingdom Hearts III and Re Mind downloadable content

Square Enix’s overview says the Dark Seeker Saga runs across these titles, from Sora’s beginning on Destiny Islands through the trio’s battle against darkness. It describes Re Mind as additional story content with boss battles, gameplay modifiers and photo galleries.

Nintendo’s June 9 release also said a demo of Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC) would be available later that day on Nintendo eShop. Gematsu’s June 9 report said that demo was available for Switch 2 via Nintendo eShop.

Switch 2 Gets a Native Path

Gematsu says each older title was already available on Switch through cloud versions. Nova Crystallis reported that the new release adds a natively-running version for Nintendo Switch 2, alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Microsoft Store.

The buying notes sit in store and release copy rather than in the teaser itself. They matter most to players who already bought cloud versions or want the physical Collection [I~III] package.

  • Cloud discount: Nintendo said players who have the cloud version on Nintendo Switch can purchase the Switch 2 version at a discounted rate.
  • Extra download: Square Enix’s store says the physical Collection [I~III] needs an internet connection and additional data download.
  • Store keyblades: The Square Enix Store page names Long Night for Nintendo Switch 2 and Midnight Blue for PlayStation 5.
  • Store price: The same product page shows Collection [I~III] as from $74.99.

The store page lists PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 as selectable platforms for that product page. Gematsu and Nova Crystallis separately report Xbox Series and PC availability for the collection.

The Story Still Starts in Quadratum

Kingdom Hearts IV was announced on Apr. 10, 2022, with Square Enix saying then that the game was in early development. Gematsu’s report from that announcement said platforms and a release date were not announced at that time.

The first details Square Enix gave then framed the game as the beginning of the Lost Master Arc. That description introduced Quadratum as a large, expansive city, brought back Donald and Goofy, and named Strelitzia as a mysterious new character who appears before Sora.

The Platform List Now Goes Wider

The new platform line is wider than the 2022 reveal because that reveal named none. GamerBraves quoted the official Kingdom Hearts post saying Kingdom Hearts IV will launch simultaneously on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Epic Games Store and Steam.

Gematsu’s current report lists PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. For PC players, the sequel’s public platform list already names the main storefronts even without release timing.

The collection has its own platform split. Gematsu says the older titles are currently on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Switch via cloud versions, with PC versions coming to Microsoft Store alongside Collection [I~III].

For Now, the Date Belongs to the Collection

Square Enix’s current Kingdom Hearts IV overview says more details will be revealed in the future. Gematsu and GamerBraves both reported on June 9 that no release date had been announced.

The collection is different. It has a dated store page, named packages, platform-specific purchase notes and a release date that Nintendo and Square Enix both put in public materials.

For now, Kingdom Hearts IV is the undated next chapter; Collection [I~III] is the dated replay path.
