Pixel 11 Pro Fold Thins Out While Rivals Go Wider and Lighter

High-resolution official-style renders of the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold landed on July 30 in a muted green called Pine, showing a cleaned camera bar, an oversized flash that houses Pixel Glow, and a closed thickness trimmed to roughly 10.1 mm. Evan Blass posted the set through his Leakmail newsletter two weeks before the Made by Google event on August 12.

The phone keeps the tall outer display and 8-inch inner panel of its predecessor. The changes are small enough that they reward a second look.

Pine Green Meets a Cleaned Camera Bar

The finish sits a step darker than last year’s Jade. A light gold frame and matching Google logo give the closed phone a quieter presence than the brighter colors Google has used before. Proportions stay close to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold: rounded corners, recognizable hinge, book-style layout.

The real visual shift sits on the back. The stacked camera module no longer carries a separate metal strip for the flash and microphone. Those elements move inside the main glass-covered array. The result removes visual clutter and leaves a larger light element in the upper left of the module. That larger element is the hardware home for Pixel Glow.

Gaps around the speakers and side buttons look tighter in the new shots. A partially unfolded view backs the impression of a sleeker shell overall.

How Thin the New Fold Measures

Prior CAD data put the closed Pixel 11 Pro Fold at 10.1 mm and the open profile near 4.8 mm. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold measures 10.8 mm closed and 5.2 mm open according to Google’s own specs page, which also lists a 5015 mAh typical capacity and 10.8 mm folded depth. The new numbers are incremental, yet they move a device that has long sat on the chunkier side of the foldable class.

The table makes the gap plain. Google is closing distance on its own past self. It still trails the numbers Samsung just published.

Pixel Glow Moves Into the Flash

Multiple earlier code finds and teaser clips pointed to an RGB lighting system branded Pixel Glow across the Pixel 11 lineup. The new Pro Fold renders place a distinctly larger light element inside the camera array rather than a strip around it. That matches the first official teaser Google released for the non-fold models, where the flash area cycles color.

On X, some early viewers dismissed the effect as little more than a tiny colored dot. One widely seen reaction called the whole feature pointless compared with older sensors. The hardware in these images is larger than a classic notification LED, which leaves room for more visible feedback.

Samsung’s July 22 Unpacked event put the Galaxy Z Fold8 at 201 g and the Ultra at 215 g, with unfolded thicknesses of 4.5 mm and 4.1 mm unfolded thickness and 215 g weight respectively. Both also adopt a wider, shorter book shape that echoes the original Pixel Fold’s proportions more than Google’s current tall cover.

Google once led that wide short experiment. The market has now circled back to it while the Pixel line stays tall. The irony is sharp: the refinements that make the 11 Pro Fold more pocketable arrive after the category’s volume leader has already moved the goalposts on both weight and aspect ratio.

Android’s own software pressure is also shifting. Google has been pushing Android adaptive apps push for ultra-wide foldables so that more software behaves correctly on the wider inner canvases Samsung and others now favor. Hardware and software are pulling in slightly different directions.

That matches the broader Pixel 11 strategy: software and on-device intelligence carry more of the upgrade story than a full chassis redesign. Tensor G6 is widely expected. Battery capacity is rumored to land near 4800 mAh, a step down from the 5015 mAh cell that helped the 10 Pro Fold. Pricing chatter, including European figures near 1999 euros for a base model, lines up with earlier price leaks pointing toward a $2,000 foldable.

A smaller cell inside a thinner body is a classic engineering trade. Whether Tensor G6 efficiency and software optimizations offset it will be clear only after real-world testing. For now the marketing emphasis on AI tools is the clearest signal of where Google wants attention to land.

Two Weeks Left on the Calendar

The renders arrived with almost perfect timing. Google has already confirmed the next-generation Pixel event for August 12 at 6 p.m. Eastern. These images give the company little room to surprise on exterior design. They do leave room to confirm or adjust the exact thickness, battery, storage tiers, and Glow behaviors.
