Robinhood XRP Market Bets 96 Cents on Holding the Dollar Line
Robinhood traders price near-certainty XRP clears $0.99991 on the Aug 17 1am EDT CF Benchmarks fix while leaving almost no room above $1.02 as Garlinghouse speaks.
Robinhood’s XRP prediction market prices a 96¢ contract on $0.99991 or above at 1am EDT on Aug 17, 2026, while the $1.01991-or-above strike sits at just 1¢. The token itself trades right around that dollar mark on the CF Benchmarks fix that settles the contracts.
Traders have effectively written a near-certain check that the psychological floor holds for one precise minute. They have left almost no room for any real upside move in the same window.
The Strikes That Define the Only Live Bet
The event asks a narrow question: what will the price of Ripple be on Aug 17, 2026 at 1am EDT? Multiple binary strikes are listed. Live prices as shown on the platform put overwhelming weight on the first meaningful threshold and almost none on anything higher.
| Strike | Live Price | Implied View |
|---|---|---|
| $0.99991 or above | 96¢ | Near-certain hold of the dollar area |
| $1.01991 or above | 1¢ | Virtually no chance of a two-cent breakout |
| $0.29991 or above | 0¢ | Deep crash priced as impossible here |
| $0.25991 or above | 0¢ | Same |
Additional lower strikes also trade at zero. The market is not debating a collapse. It is debating whether XRP can do more than sit still for sixty seconds. Spot prints across major venues and the official index itself have spent recent sessions between roughly $0.99 and $1.01, so the 96¢ bid matches the tape.
Similar short-dated XRP contracts on the same platform have repeatedly clustered around the same narrow band in prior weeks. An earlier penny-wide XRP prediction range showed the same pattern of heavy front-end pricing and empty upside.
How the CF Snapshot Settles
Resolution is mechanical and deliberately tight. The price used is based on CF Benchmarks’ corresponding Real Time Index. The market takes a simple average of that index for the 60 seconds prior to the specified time. The price must meet the criterion at exactly the specified time on the target date.
- Source agency is CF Benchmarks; the relevant series is the CME CF XRP-Dollar Real Time Index.
- If no data is available or the series is incomplete at expiration, affected strikes resolve to No.
- Winning contracts pay $1; losers pay nothing. Payout usually lands within one hour of resolution.
- Trading runs 24 hours a day except a short Thursday maintenance window.
- Employees of source agencies and anyone holding material non-public information on the underlying are barred.
The RTI itself is a once-per-second benchmark that aggregates order data from qualifying XRP-USD markets that meet CF Benchmarks’ regulatory criteria. It is a registered benchmark under the UK framework and is explicitly used as the price input for event contracts on Kalshi and ForecastEX. Recent prints on the public page have hovered near $1.001. Full details appear in the full contract terms on settlement.
Event contracts are offered by Robinhood Derivatives through KalshiEX, ForecastEX or Rothera. Additional fees apply and the usual risk disclosures sit on the page.
XRP’s Long Defense of the Dollar Line
The $1 level has become the story for most of 2026. After a July 2025 peak near $3.65, XRP has lost roughly 70 percent of its value. A brief January 2026 bounce toward $2.41 faded. Buyers have repeatedly defended the area between $1.00 and $1.06 for weeks at a stretch. Some tallies note the token has not closed a full day under $1 for long stretches this year.
Market snapshot (recent sessions):
- Spot / RTI: roughly $0.99-$1.002
- Market cap: about $62.7 billion
- Circulating supply: approximately 62.7 billion XRP
- Drawdown from 2025 high: near 70 percent
On-chain and flow data cited across recent coverage show large concentrations of coins near the $1 zone and thin buying interest if that level gives way. Next widely watched supports sit in the $0.85-$0.95 area. ETF inflows have been modest, often single-digit millions on a weekly basis. The regulatory calendar has not helped. Odds on the CLARITY Act becoming law in 2026 have slid from earlier highs near 70 percent into the 30-42 percent range on prediction markets as the Senate schedule slipped past the August recess.
In short, the dollar is no longer a round-number curiosity. It is the line that separates orderly consolidation from a deeper technical break. That is exactly the line the Robinhood market is underwriting at 96 cents on the dollar.
Garlinghouse Heads to Jackson Hole the Same Window
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse is scheduled to appear at the 2026 Wyoming Blockchain Symposium in Jackson Hole from Aug 17 to 20. The event is co-hosted by SALT and Kraken. Community posts and crypto news outlets flagged the speech calendar days in advance as a potential catalyst window.
Whether any remarks move the spot price inside a single 60-second averaging window is another matter. The prediction market’s 1¢ bid on a move above $1.02 suggests participants are not pricing a speech-driven spike into this particular contract. Longer-dated “how high will XRP get in 2026” markets on the same platform still carry double-digit odds on much higher levels, so the skepticism is time-specific rather than absolute.
The same week also saw residual discussion of an SEC vote calendar around Regulation Crypto proposals, though the broader CLARITY legislative path remains stalled until at least September. Institutional rails on the XRPL continue to advance quietly even while the token price stays range-bound, a pattern noted in coverage of XRP hovering near one dollar with quiet rails.
Traders Read the Flat Tape
On X and in trading chats the dominant conversation is not “will it hold $1 for one more minute.” It is “what happens if it finally does not.” Several widely shared charts treat $1 as the level that would force a retail psychology break. Others point to monthly RSI sitting in historical bottom zones and count consecutive red monthly candles. A minority still maps multi-year roadmaps that require a brief undercut of $1 before any larger expansion.
The Robinhood book itself is quieter. Liquidity is concentrated on the 96¢ strike. The absence of any real bid above $1.02 functions as crowd intelligence of its own: participants who want upside exposure are waiting for a different timeframe or a clearer catalyst. Short-dated 15-minute XRP targets on the same platform have shown the same clustering around current spot, reinforcing that the market currently prices noise, not trend.
One practical reading is that the near-certain floor bet is also a low-volatility bet. If the 60-second average lands at $1.005, the 96¢ holders collect a small premium. If it lands at $0.998, they lose the full stake. The asymmetric payoff keeps the contract interesting even when the headline odds look sleepy.
What the Near-Certain Floor Bet Leaves Open
The contract will resolve on the CF Benchmarks average in the minute before 1am EDT. Most paths still lead to a Yes on the $0.99991 strike and a No on everything higher. That outcome would simply confirm what the order book already believes.
The more interesting residue is the empty upside. A market that will pay almost full price to insure the dollar line yet will not pay a penny for a two-cent rally is telling traders that conviction for a breakout remains low even with a high-profile Ripple appearance on the calendar. Whether that conviction returns later in the week, after the Wyoming sessions, or only with clearer legislative movement is outside this contract’s scope.
For now the bet on the table is simple and expensive: XRP holds the line it has defended for weeks, measured to the second by a regulated real-time index, and does nothing more dramatic in the same breath.
