OnePlus 15s Cancelled in India as the Brand Pivots Down-Market

Yogesh Brar confirms the OnePlus 15s won’t launch in India, and the cancellation exposes OnePlus’s pivot from compact flagships to cheaper N-series phones.

The OnePlus 15s won’t launch in India. Tipster Yogesh Brar confirmed the cancellation in mid-June 2026, per Gizchina’s reporting on the development. The phone would have been a rebranded version of the OnePlus 15T, the China-only compact flagship launched earlier in the year.

But the cancellation isn’t an isolated product call. OnePlus’s own 15R already sits in the Rs 50,000-60,000 band the 15s would have occupied, and on June 30 the company launches the OnePlus N6, the first phone in a new entry-level N Series. The compact flagship is the casualty of a strategy that pushes OnePlus India down-market and away from premium compacts.

Why the OnePlus 15s won’t reach India

The 15s had been on-again, off-again since January 2026. Brar, who has tracked OnePlus leaks for years, posted in mid-June that the device was not launching, per Gizchina’s reporting on the cancellation. Brar had pegged the cancellation probability at 90% in January, before a February leak from a separate source suggested a tweaked camera setup had put it back on track.

That comeback turned out to be short-lived. By mid-June, Brar was back with a flat cancellation call, and a separate post from tipster Debayan Roy confirmed the same, per the same report. The cycle is over.

The 15s cancellation is one piece of a wider pattern. The same report notes that the OnePlus Open 2 global launch was also shelved before it reached any market outside China. Brar has separately suggested, per the same report, that the OnePlus 15 may be the last flagship the brand releases in India full stop. The brand is reportedly pulling out of the US, UK, and EU markets entirely, with India being pushed to an online-only model. OnePlus has no compact premium replacement lined up.

The phone that would have been the 15s

The OnePlus 15T, the China-only original that would have carried the 15s name in India, was a genuinely strong piece of hardware. Per Gizchina, it carries a 6.32-inch 165Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a 7,500mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC charging, and a dual 50MP rear camera system headlined by a Sony IMX906 sensor.

It would have been the natural successor to the OnePlus 13s in every spec that mattered, and a notable step up in two. The 6.32-inch form factor was preserved from the 13T, the chipset moved up a generation, the battery grew by 1,650mAh, and the charging speed jumped from 80W to 100W. The compact body and the new internals were the pitch; the pricing inside the same Rs 50,000-60,000 band was the part OnePlus could not square.

Spec OnePlus 13T (launched as 13s in India) OnePlus 15T (would have been 15s)
Display 6.32-inch ProXDR LTPO, 120Hz 6.32-inch AMOLED, 165Hz
Chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
Battery 5,850mAh 7,500mAh
Wired charging 80W SuperVOOC 100W SuperVOOC
Rear cameras 50MP main + 50MP 2x telephoto, OIS 50MP main (Sony IMX906) + 50MP secondary

What the 13s set up a year ago

The 13s launched in India on June 5, 2025, as the rebrand of the China-exclusive 13T.

Its spec sheet gave OnePlus a compact flagship it could finally sell in the country. The phone carried a 6.32-inch ProXDR LTPO display at 120Hz, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 5,850mAh battery, 80W SuperVOOC wired charging, and a dual rear camera headlined by a 50MP Sony LYT-700 sensor with OIS, per the OnePlus 13s spec sheet on Smartprix. The body measured 71.7 x 150.8 x 8.2mm and weighed 185g.

It went on sale at Rs 54,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant, a starting price positioned inside the Rs 50,000-60,000 band OnePlus has long used to anchor its flagship-killer pitch.

Smartprix’s review framed the phone as a “compact flagship,” a rare combination in a market where most premium phones have grown past 6.7 inches. The phone found a niche. A year later, that niche is gone.

The 15R priced into the gap

The OnePlus 15R now occupies the band the 13s created. It is not a compact phone, and it did not start at Rs 50,000-60,000.

The 15R launched in India at Rs 47,999 for the 12GB + 256GB base variant, then absorbed a series of price hikes through 2026. On May 1, 2026, the 12GB + 256GB rose from Rs 50,499 to Rs 52,999, and the 12GB + 512GB rose from Rs 55,499 to Rs 57,999, per the price-hike tracker covering OnePlus and Nothing in India.

By June 22, 2026, the 15R’s current pricing on 91mobiles was Rs 54,999 for 12GB + 256GB, Rs 59,999 for 12GB + 512GB, and Rs 61,999 for the 16GB + 512GB top variant. The compact-flagship slot the 13s held at Rs 54,999 now belongs to a 6.83-inch phone priced identically. Component costs across the industry, from memory to chips, are part of why the 15R has climbed into the 13s’s old band, as 2027 flagship price forecasts have already started warning of further rises.

Three tiers, one brand

OnePlus India now operates three tiers in the market. The structure was laid out by India Today’s report on the OnePlus N6 launch, citing the brand’s own positioning.

The N Series sits at the entry level at Rs 18,000 to Rs 25,000. The Nord Series covers the mid-range at Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. The Flagship Series remains above Rs 50,000. The 15s would have lived in the third tier; the 15R lives there now.

Tier Price band Example device
N Series Rs 18,000 to Rs 25,000 OnePlus N6
Nord Series Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 Nord 6 / Nord CE 6
Flagship Series Above Rs 50,000 OnePlus 15 series

The N6 arrives on June 30

The first phone in the new N Series is the OnePlus N6, and it lands on June 30, 2026 at 12 PM IST, per the launch date OnePlus India confirmed on its own channels.

The N6 will be sold through Amazon India, the OnePlus online store, and select offline retailers, per the OnePlus India launch confirmation. The price band OnePlus has put on the record is Rs 18,000 to Rs 25,000, per the India Today report.

The teaser images show the phone in Black and Light Green colourways, with a square rear camera island that closely resembles the OnePlus Nord CE 6. The frame is flat, with power and volume on the right, a centred OnePlus logo on the back, and a flat front display with a centred hole-punch cutout. The headline feature is an 8,000mAh battery, the largest OnePlus has shipped in a phone. More on the launch itself sits in our earlier N6 coverage.

The full spec sheet is reserved for June 30. Until then, leaks and teasers outline the rest:

  • Display: 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED, 144Hz refresh rate (expected)
  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Super (expected)
  • Rear cameras: 50MP main + 8MP ultra-wide (expected)
  • Front camera: 16MP (expected)
  • Durability: IP64 dust and water resistance (expected)

Where the OnePlus 16 stands

The next OnePlus flagship is the OnePlus 16. Per Gizchina, tipster Digital Chat Station confirmed on Weibo that the OnePlus 16 and iQOO 16 are both targeting September China launches, a month earlier than the October debuts of their predecessors.

The India question is open. Per Android Central, Brar’s own OnePlus 16 camera specs post ended with a cryptic “but,” leaving global availability ambiguous. India has historically been one of the markets that gets the numbered flagship, but the brand’s reported pullback from global markets keeps the 16’s India launch undecided. The fragmented leak picture, covered in our OnePlus 16 leak tracking, is consistent with that uncertainty.
