OPPO’s Reno16 5G and Reno16 F 5G Arrive in Singapore With BABYMONSTER

OPPO’s Reno16 5G and Reno16 F 5G land in Singapore with BABYMONSTER as ambassador, a new Bubble accessory, and launch perks running to August 31.

OPPO has brought the Reno16 5G and Reno16 F 5G to Singapore, backed by K-pop group BABYMONSTER as ambassador and a new magnetic accessory called OPPO Bubble. The two phones share almost every camera trick and software feature OPPO built for this generation. What splits them is smaller: screen size, battery capacity, and the chip inside.

Reviews of the wider Reno16 lineup elsewhere already flagged a familiar catch: sharp design and cameras, chipsets that lag the price tag. Singapore’s launch layers a K-pop ambassador and a detachable screen accessory on top of that same math.

A Shared Blueprint, Three Real Splits

The two phones share more than they split. Both run ColorOS 16 on Android 16 with IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance ratings. OPPO also carried over AI perks it usually reserves for pricier models, including AI Mind Pilot, AI Mind Space, AI Menu Translation, and AI Bill Manager for digitizing receipts.

The differences sit in three places: screen size, battery capacity, and the processor doing the work underneath.

Singapore retail listing S$899 (12GB/256GB) S$669 (8GB/256GB)

Those retail figures come from Singapore retailer KS Mobile rather than an official OPPO price sheet, and S$899 works out to roughly US$665 at current exchange rates.

Singapore is not the first stop either. OPPO’s Reno16 series reached Malaysian shelves with the same magnetic accessory weeks earlier, part of a global rollout that began in Thailand and Spain back in June.

One design detail is easy to miss. Only the Pop White colorway carries what OPPO calls HoloVerse 3D Technology, a nebula inspired visual effect that shifts with light across the back panel. Twilight Violet units get a different treatment entirely.

A Selfie Camera Wider Than the Category Norm

Both phones carry a 50MP front camera at f/2.0 with a 100 degree field of view, well beyond the 78 to 82 degree range standard on most front cameras built for video calls. OPPO is pitching that width at people who take a lot of group selfies and want more of the frame filled without stretching an arm out further.

The rear setup is shared too: a main camera with optical image stabilization at f/1.8, an ultrawide, and a 3x optical zoom telephoto lens that is also stabilized. Singapore retailer KS Mobile lists the F 5G’s ultrawide at f/2.2 with a 116 degree field of view, sitting alongside that same 50MP, f/1.8 main sensor.

Where the two split is resolution on the ultrawide lens. The Reno16 5G runs a triple 50MP array on the back, while the Reno16 F 5G keeps an 8MP ultrawide.

  • Pop Cam – retro filters, including Digicam, Instant Film, and Light Leak, built into the default camera app for a compact digital camera look.
  • Remix Collage – layers animated stickers, text, and moving video subjects into a single composition.
  • Popout Collage 2.0 – breaks the frame border so edited elements can spill outside it.
  • 4K Straight Video – keeps clips level while the phone is moving.
  • Dual View Video 2.0 – adds stabilization and smoother transitions when swapping between rear lenses mid recording.

Both phones run the identical version of this toolkit, so the choice between them rarely comes down to what the camera app itself can do. GSMArena’s hands-on testing of the wider lineup found the new ultrawide sensor brings 4K video capability to the non-Pro model for the first time, with usable footage even after dark.

OPPO Bubble Is Built to Outlive the Phone

OPPO is launching Bubble alongside the Reno16 pair. It is a coin-sized AMOLED disc that clips onto the back of a phone with a magnetic ring or case, mirroring the rear camera’s live view so users can frame a shot without twisting the phone around to check the front screen.

Detached from the phone, Bubble doubles as a remote shutter button that works up to 10 metres away. Left idle, it switches into a style accessory showing looping animations, and it has lanyard compatibility for wearing separately from any phone at all.

OPPO frames Bubble as compatible with any device that can take a magnetic ring or case, not just the Reno16 duo. Its own global product page narrows that promise for right now, with full software support and more devices added later through OTA updates, while today’s list stays limited to the Reno16 series and the Find X9 series.

A clip-on accessory can ride along on every phone OPPO sells with a compatible case, not just one model line. Acer took the integrated route instead with its Sospiro phones, its third phone relaunch built around a rear screen baked into the hardware rather than clipped on afterward.

BABYMONSTER Extends a Five-Generation Ambassador Playbook

OPPO confirmed the new Reno ambassador for selected markets on 18 June 2026, the same statement that set the global rollout beginning in Thailand and Spain.

As Reno continues to evolve, we are focused on creating smartphones that combine powerful technology with individuality and creative expression. The Reno16 Series reflects this vision through its distinctive design language and new AI-powered creative experiences. We are also excited to welcome BABYMONSTER as the new Reno ambassador as we begin the next chapter of Reno’s global journey.

Ling Liu, OPPO’s overseas chief marketing officer, said that in the statement announcing the partnership.

BABYMONSTER is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment, the label behind BLACKPINK. Seven members, Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, and Chiquita, make up the group, which debuted in 2024.

This is not OPPO’s first K-pop tie-in for the Reno line. Singer YUQI of i-dle fronted the Reno13, Reno14, and Reno15 campaigns, while SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan, DK, and Hoshi, performing together as BSS, backed the Reno11 F and Reno12 series before that.

Does the Reno16 Chipset Justify Its Price?

Not entirely, according to reviewers who tested the wider Reno16 lineup sold elsewhere. They praise the design, battery life, and camera versatility across the range, but flag chipsets that lag rivals at the same money, a tension Singapore’s own launch does nothing to resolve.

91mobiles found the cameras “impressive in every scenario,” while calling the chipset “underwhelming considering its price tag.” GSMArena’s review of the standard Reno16 listed a good OLED screen and strong battery life as pluses, then noted in the same breath that faster phones at similar prices are available.

The pricier Reno16 Pro fared worse in Europe, where GSMArena flagged a price hike of roughly 300 euros over its predecessor. The Reno16 5G’s own Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, notably, is the same silicon that powered last year’s Reno15, which is the detail reviewers keep returning to when questioning the jump.

  • 91mobiles – camera performance and design justify a look despite a pricier feeling chipset.
  • GSMArena – build quality and battery life are strong, but faster rivals exist for similar money.
  • Notebookcheck’s review roundup – aggregate scores stay positive even as individual critics flag pricing and positioning.

None of those verdicts cover the exact Reno16 F 5G configuration sold in Singapore, which swaps in the Dimensity 7300-Energy chip and a larger battery for a different price bracket entirely.

Singapore’s Launch Bundle Runs Through August 31

Buyers who purchase a Reno16 series phone between 17 July and 31 August 2026 get a set of perks layered on top of the phone itself.

  • Complimentary OPPO Magnetic Case – included with any Reno16 series purchase, or a Reno16 series x BABYMONSTER limited edition gift set instead through OPPO’s own Brand Store and Official Online Store while stocks last.
  • S$30 O-Fans Exclusive Voucher – redeemable through the My OPPO App, one per user.
  • Two years of screen protection – a one-time replacement valid in Singapore, excluding water or other parts damage, with a service fee plus GST.
  • Two years of multi-region warranty – covering Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Taiwan.
  • Three months of Google AI Pro – bundled with 5TB of cloud storage.
  • OPPO Bubble at S$103.20 – offered as a purchase-with-offer alongside a Reno16 series device.

The window opened the same day the phones reached Singapore shelves and closes on 31 August 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Difference Between the Reno16 5G and Reno16 F 5G?

The Reno16 5G runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip on a smaller 6.32 inch screen with a 6,700mAh battery and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The Reno16 F 5G swaps in a MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy chip, a larger 6.57 inch screen, a 7,000mAh battery, and an 8MP ultrawide. Singapore retailer KS Mobile prices the two roughly S$230 apart, in line with that hardware gap.

Does OPPO Bubble Work With Phones Other Than the Reno16?

Physically, yes. Any phone that accepts a magnetic ring or magnetic case can carry OPPO Bubble on its back. The live rear camera preview and remote shutter functions currently work only with the Reno16 series and the Find X9 series, and OPPO has not published a standalone retail price for Bubble sold without a phone purchase attached.

Which Reno16 Colorway Gets the 3D Pop Planet Design?

Only the Pop White version carries it, marketed as HoloVerse 3D Technology and built from millions of micro-lenses that reconstruct light across the surface. OPPO says the manufacturing process behind that effect is patent-protected. Twilight Violet units get a different back panel treatment without the floating visual effect.

Does the Two-Year Warranty Travel Outside Singapore?

Yes. The multi-region warranty tied to this launch covers a Singapore-bought device across Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Taiwan too, so the unit stays covered if its owner relocates or travels within the region during the two-year period.

How Long Does the Singapore Launch Promotion Run?

The bundle runs from 17 July to 31 August 2026, opening the same day both phones went on sale in Singapore. OPPO has not said which, if any, of the perks continue once that window closes.
