OnePlus N6x Teaser Reveals a Design That Echoes Its Own Nord Line
OnePlus teases the N6x’s blue and red colours and a Nord-like design, exposing overlap with its own Nord CE 6 Lite as India’s budget segment gets crowded.
OnePlus has teased blue and red colour options for the N6x, the second phone in its new N series, ahead of an India launch it still has not dated. A dedicated microsite on Amazon now shows off the design under the tagline “Beyond what you x-pect,” and the phone it resembles most is not the one that came before it.
That phone is the Nord CE 6 Lite, the handset OnePlus’s own N series was supposedly created to avoid overlapping with. Three weeks after launching the N6, OnePlus is teasing a design that blurs the very line it drew in June.
OnePlus Shows Off Blue, Red and a Flat Back
The updated microsite confirms the N6x will come in blue and red when it reaches India. Design renders show a flat rear panel with OnePlus’s logo centred, a pill-shaped camera module tucked into the top left corner, and an LED flash sitting right beside it. The frame is flat too, with the power button and volume rocker both placed on the right edge.
- Flat rear panel with a centred OnePlus logo
- Pill-shaped rear camera module in the top left corner, LED flash alongside it
- Flat metal frame with power button and volume rocker on the right edge
- Confirmed for sale exclusively through Amazon in India
OnePlus has not said much beyond that. The company describes the phone as arriving with “familiar” specifications and features, without listing a single number on a spec sheet.

The N6x Looks More Like a Nord Than an N
Going by the teaser, the N6x sits closer in design to the Nord CE 6 Lite than to its own N6 sibling. That is a strange place for OnePlus’s second N-series phone to land, given the whole point of the N series was to be its own thing.
The Nord CE 6 Lite launched on May 7 with a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Apex chipset, a 144Hz LCD panel and a 7,000mAh battery, in Hyper Black and Vivid Mint. The N6 followed on June 30 with a slower Dimensity 6360 Apex chipset, a 6.75-inch 120Hz LCD rated at 1,200 nits, an 8,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging, and IP65 dust and water resistance, in Fresh Mint and Midnight Green.
Three Phones, One Overlapping Price Band
Here is how the three phones stack up on what is confirmed so far.
| Model | India Price | Chipset | Battery | Display | Colours |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| OnePlus N6 | Rs 22,999 (4GB/128GB) | Dimensity 6360 Apex | 8,000mAh, 45W wired | 6.75-inch HD LCD, 120Hz, 1,200 nits | Fresh Mint, Midnight Green |
| Nord CE 6 Lite | Rs 18,999 to Rs 23,999 | Dimensity 7400 Apex | 7,000mAh | 144Hz LCD | Hyper Black, Vivid Mint |
| N6x (expected) | Under Rs 20,000, unconfirmed | Not yet confirmed | Not yet confirmed | Not yet confirmed | Blue, Red |
OnePlus’s own product page pegs the Nord CE 6 Lite inside the ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 price segment at launch. The N series that OnePlus announced alongside the N6 was pitched at Rs 18,000 to Rs 25,000. Those two ranges sit almost entirely on top of each other, despite carrying different family names.
OnePlus Already Feared This Exact Mix-Up
OnePlus saw this coming, or at least industry watchers did. Weeks before the N6 launched, 91mobiles laid out why OnePlus chose a new series instead of simply pricing a cheaper Nord CE 6 Lite trim into the same bracket.
may have complicated the company’s naming strategy and created confusion among buyers
That is how 91mobiles described the risk of a cut-price Nord CE 6 Lite variant, arguing a standalone N series was the cleaner fix. A cleaner name did not stop the N6x’s design from ending up looking like the phone the new series was meant to separate itself from.
Why Did OnePlus Split Its Lineup in the First Place?
OnePlus split its India lineup into three tiers, flagship, Nord and N series, because the sub-Rs 25,000 segment had grown too big to leave without a dedicated line. The company built the N series around India’s Gen Z buyers, who it says drive a huge share of the country’s phone purchases, and who were being served by hand-me-down Nord pricing until the N6 arrived.
- Rs 18,000 to Rs 25,000: the band OnePlus assigned to the new N series when the N6 launched
- Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000: where OnePlus places the Nord series, one tier up
- 377 million: the Gen Z population in India that OnePlus says drives roughly 44% of the country’s smartphone purchases
- 152 million-plus: smartphone units industry estimates say shipped across India in 2025
That is the business case for a third rung on the ladder. It does not explain why the newest phone on that rung was teased wearing the older rung’s clothes.
OnePlus Leans Harder on India as the West Exits
The N6x teaser lands in the middle of a much bigger shakeup. Bloomberg reported that OnePlus will begin ceasing operations in the US and Europe as part of a wider restructuring at parent company Oppo, with the change expected as early as the week of July 15. OnePlus is also folding OxygenOS into Oppo’s ColorOS, and its North American community forum is scheduled to shut down entirely on August 16.
OnePlus is pulling back globally and winding down OxygenOS, but OnePlus India and China are unaffected.
Android Central summed up the shift that way on July 16, days after Bloomberg first broke the story. OnePlus told Android Authority its India business continues on track, pointing to the N6 launch as proof, and pushed back on any talk of an India exit alongside it.
That leaves India carrying more of OnePlus’s global volume than it used to, right as the company is stacking overlapping phones into its cheapest segment. A crowded, confusing shelf costs more when it is one of the only shelves left.
A Sub-Rs 25,000 Shelf Already Crowded With Rivals
OnePlus is not the only brand fighting for this exact buyer. Nothing timed its Phone (4b) launch in India on July 7, paired with its Ear (3a) earbuds, and Tecno followed with its Camon 50 Ultra 5G launch on July 17, both landing in a similar price neighbourhood to the N6 and the teased N6x.
Xiaomi, Realme and iQOO all compete for the same buyer in this bracket, which is exactly why OnePlus wanted a clean, separate identity for its cheapest phones. Instead, its own two budget lines are starting to look like each other before a rival even gets involved.
OnePlus has not set a launch date for the N6x. Until it does, the phone crowding its own Nord lineup is still just a colour swatch on an Amazon microsite.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will the OnePlus N6x launch in India?
OnePlus has not confirmed a launch date. The Amazon microsite went live in mid-July, roughly three weeks after the N6 went on sale on June 30, and the company has only said the phone is “coming soon.”
How much will the OnePlus N6x cost?
OnePlus has not confirmed pricing, but multiple outlets tracking the microsite expect it below Rs 20,000, undercutting the N6’s Rs 22,999 starting price and landing close to the Nord CE 6 Lite’s Rs 18,999 entry point.
What chipset does the OnePlus N6x use?
OnePlus has only said the N6x arrives with “familiar” specifications, wording several outlets read as a hint it reuses the N6’s MediaTek Dimensity 6360 Apex chipset rather than the Nord CE 6 Lite’s faster Dimensity 7400 Apex.
Is the OnePlus N6x different from the Nord CE 6 Lite?
On paper the two sit in different OnePlus series with overlapping price bands. The N6x’s teased flat back and pill-shaped camera module look closer to the Nord CE 6 Lite than to its own N6 sibling, and full specifications remain unconfirmed.
