Tecno’s Camon 50 Ultra 5G Set for July 17 India Launch
Tecno confirms the Camon 50 Ultra 5G launches in India on July 17 via Amazon, with four RAM and storage options revealed but no price yet.
Tecno will launch the Camon 50 Ultra 5G in India on July 17 at noon, selling exclusively through Amazon. A Carlcare service listing has already confirmed four RAM and storage combinations, though Tecno still has not named a price. The phone ships in three colours: Nebula Titanium, Cypress Green and Misty Purple.
Tecno unveiled the phone globally back in March with a curved 1.5K AMOLED screen, a 3x optical telephoto lens and a DXOMark camera score that tops most rivals under $600. Whether the exact configuration, battery cell included, matches what actually ships in India is still unconfirmed days before launch.
What Tecno Has Confirmed Before July 17
Tecno’s Amazon India microsite went live this week, confirming that the Camon 50 Ultra 5G launches on July 17 at 12 PM and goes on sale on Amazon right after. The listing also settled the colour question for Indian buyers.
That is two fewer shades than Tecno offers worldwide. The brand’s own five colorways for the global version include Moonshadow Black and Luminous Orange, neither of which has shown up on the Indian listing.
A separate discovery on the Carlcare India service site, under model number CN7c, filled in the memory picture ahead of any official word from Tecno.
| RAM | Storage |
|---|---|
| 8GB | 256GB |
| 8GB | 512GB |
| 12GB | 256GB |
| 12GB | 512GB |
All four variants are expected at launch, giving buyers a real budget-to-performance spread instead of one fixed spec sheet.

A Spec Sheet That Outpunches Its Price Band
Tecno unveiled the Camon 50 Ultra 5G in March at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, built around what the brand calls a “Sees It All” philosophy aimed at creators and photography enthusiasts. The sheet is unusually loaded for a company that built its India business on budget phones.
- Display: 6.78-inch curved AMOLED, 1208×2644 resolution, up to 144Hz refresh, 4,500 nits peak brightness, 2,304Hz PWM dimming, Gorilla Glass 7i.
- Chipset: MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate, built on a 4nm process.
- Durability: IP68, IP69 and IP69K dust and water ratings, plus MIL-STD-810 certification.
- Camera: 50MP Sony LYT-700C main sensor with OIS, a 50MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 50MP front camera.
DXOMark, the French camera-testing lab, scored the rear system at 146 overall, ranking it first among phones in its $400-600 bracket. For comparison, Tecno’s China listing prices the same hardware at about $299, or 2,093 yuan.
Power comes from a 6,500mAh cell with 45W wired charging in the unit reviewed abroad, a figure that becomes important a little further down.
How Much Will the Camon 50 Ultra Cost in India?
Tecno has not announced Indian pricing, and estimates swing hard: from about ₹18,000 on the low end to over ₹55,000 on trackers assuming the top configuration, with most early coverage clustering the base model between ₹30,000 and ₹40,000.
- ₹18,000 to ₹23,000: one outlet’s estimate based on Tecno’s usual India pricing pattern for the Camon line.
- ₹30,000 to ₹40,000: the range tied to early coverage of the Carlcare listing, positioned against OnePlus Nord and iQOO’s mid-range 5G phones.
- ₹34,990: the expected price listed by price-tracking site Smartprix.
- ₹55,300: the expected price listed by Cashify, based on the top-end configuration.
That spread of nearly ₹40,000 shows how little is actually locked in. Some of the pressure sits outside Tecno’s control. Component costs have climbed across the industry this year, and iQOO’s own India plans have wobbled too: rising memory prices have pushed the iQOO 16 past a ₹85,000 price point, steep enough that a launch there is now in doubt.
If costs are squeezing a phone priced well above the Camon’s expected bracket, the final number here is not guaranteed to land where the earliest estimates put it.
The India Unit May Not Match the One Reviewed Abroad
Some of what ships on July 17 is settled. Some of it is not, and the gap matters for anyone comparing India’s unit against the global reviews already published.
What we know:
- Launch date and time: July 17 at 12 PM.
- Retailer: Amazon, exclusively, right after launch.
- Colours: Nebula Titanium, Cypress Green and Misty Purple.
- Memory: four RAM and storage combinations under model number CN7c.
What’s unconfirmed:
- Final price in India.
- Battery capacity: the 6,500mAh cell or a smaller 6,150mAh version used in some other markets.
- Whether Moonshadow Black and Luminous Orange arrive for India later.
The battery point is real, not speculative. Reporting on the India launch itself notes the phone ships with either a 6,150mAh or 6,500mAh cell depending on region, and that India’s exact capacity remains an open question. Independent lab tests clocked a 16-hour active-use rating on the larger cell in the reviewed unit.
Global Reviewers Have Already Found the Trade-offs
Independent reviews of the global version, published between March and June, offer a preview of what Indian buyers can expect once the marketing settles.
Benchmark Numbers Tell One Story
One hands-on test posted an AnTuTu 3D score of 972,694 for the Camon 50 Ultra 5G, placing the Dimensity 7400 Ultimate behind two same-tier rivals and ahead of a third.
| Phone | AnTuTu 3D Score |
|---|---|
| Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G | 1,043,315 |
| realme 15 Pro 5G | 1,019,769 |
| Tecno Camon 50 Ultra 5G | 972,694 |
| Nothing Phone 3a Pro | 805,622 |
That single test does not settle performance rankings on its own, but it places this chipset in the middle of its class rather than at the top of it.
Speakers and Software Draw Complaints
GSMArena’s lab testing called the stereo speakers loud but thin, writing that “the quality is average and the sound is shallow.” PetaPixel’s camera review reached a similar conclusion on imaging, noting the phone “has a pretty good camera system that is buried in AI features and software,” a verdict that lines up with how heavily Tecno leans on tools like AI Light Master and AI Auto Zoom in its own marketing.
Overall, the Tecno Camon 50 Ultra comes off as a sheep in wolf’s clothing.
Lowyat.net, the Malaysian tech outlet, delivered that verdict after testing the global unit for its own review.
A Crowded Month for Indian Smartphone Launches
Tecno is not launching into an empty calendar. Early July alone brought a wave of competing mid-range 5G debuts in India.
Motorola confirmed its own Moto G77 Power launch for July 8, and OPPO followed with its Reno 16, chipset confirmed ahead of its July 2 debut, both landing in roughly the same price territory Tecno is chasing.
That density is exactly why the Carlcare listing matters more than it would in a quiet month. Four memory tiers give Tecno room to undercut on the entry configuration while still offering a 512GB option, but only if the eventual price holds anywhere near the early estimates.
Amazon’s own listing is expected to fill in the remaining blanks, the sale page and the price, in the days immediately before the noon launch on July 17.
Frequently Asked Questions
When Does the Tecno Camon 50 Ultra 5G Launch in India?
The phone launches on July 17 at 12 PM, sold exclusively through Amazon from that moment on. That is roughly four months after Tecno first unveiled the Camon 50 Ultra 5G globally at MWC 2026 in Barcelona in early March.
Does the Camon 50 Ultra 5G Support Wireless Charging?
No. Charging is wired only, capped at 45W, and the phone also skips a memory card slot, so the 8GB and 12GB RAM variants rely entirely on their built-in 256GB or 512GB storage.
How Long Will Tecno Support the Phone With Updates?
Tecno has committed to three major Android upgrades and five years of security patches for the Camon 50 Ultra 5G, plus 50GB of free cloud storage every year for the first three years.
What Security Features Does the Camon 50 Ultra 5G Have?
It uses an in-display optical fingerprint reader rather than a side-mounted sensor, paired with standard face unlock through the front camera.
How Good Is the Camera, According to DXOMark?
DXOMark gave the rear camera system an overall score of 146 with a portrait sub-score of 142, placing it first among phones in the $400 to $600 bracket and 43rd globally.
