Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Leaks at 201g With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 has surfaced in a complete specifications sheet posted online, with the tipped weight of 201g drawing the most attention. Tipster Ahmed Qwaider posted the spec list for the wide-format foldable on X on June 30, just over a day before Samsung’s expected summer Galaxy Unpacked event.

The leaked sheet covers dimensions, weight, display specs, chipset, memory, battery, and cameras in a single block. The body proportions and the inner screen’s 4:3 aspect ratio line up with earlier reporting on a new wide-format Fold Samsung is preparing alongside the standard tall-format model.

The Spec Sheet Qwaider Posted

The post, dated June 30 at 3:22 a.m. local time, is titled “Galaxy Z Fold 8 (New Fold)” and lists each spec in a quick-fire block. Qwaider attaches a hands-on image of the device and tags the Samsung and Snapdragon handles in the post. Each entry runs to a single short figure.

  • Dimensions: 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.5mm unfolded, 123.9 x 81.9 x 9.7mm folded
  • Main display: 7.6-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X at 4:3 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate
  • Cover display: 5.5-inch QHD+ at 16:10 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, 3nm process
  • Memory: 12GB RAM with 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage
  • Battery: 4,800mAh with Super Fast Charging 2.0 and Fast Wireless Charging 2.0
  • Rear cameras: 50MP wide at f/1.8 and 50MP ultra-wide at f/1.9
  • Front cameras: 10MP on cover (f/2.2), 10MP on inner display (f/2.2)

The post is the most complete Galaxy Z Fold 8 spec sheet to surface in public ahead of Samsung’s hardware event. It does not name the device’s market name or its launch price. None of the figures on it have been confirmed by Samsung. The tip tracks the form factor multiple outlets have linked to a new wide-format Fold.

A Tipped Weight That Drops Below the Fold 7

The single number on the sheet most likely to shape buyer interest is the weight. 201g, if Samsung confirms it on stage, would sit below the 215g figure Samsung’s official Galaxy Z Fold 7 spec sheet lists on its Mobile Press page.

The post landed on June 30, days ahead of Samsung’s expected Galaxy Unpacked event. The leak tracks with Android Central’s earlier reporting on a wide-format Fold 8 device with a 4:3 inner aspect ratio. Earlier leaks this year have covered the standard Fold 8 and the Fold 8 Ultra as separate devices.

The other body numbers on the sheet tell a slightly different story. The unfolded depth is listed at 4.5mm against the 4.2mm Samsung lists for the Fold 7 on its press page. The folded depth is listed at 9.7mm against the 8.9mm of the current model. The leaked Fold 8 is heavier per millimeter in the body but lighter overall on the gram count.

Two Screens, A Wider Body

The leaked displays point to a wider, squarer body than the Fold 7. The main panel is listed as a 7.6-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The cover screen comes in at 5.5 inches at QHD+ and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Both panels are rated at 120Hz. The 4:3 inner ratio is the same aspect ratio as a traditional tablet display.

Samsung’s official Fold 7 spec sheet lists its main display at 8.0 inches and its cover display at 6.5 inches at a 21:9 aspect ratio. The Fold 8 spec sheet, by contrast, points to a shorter, wider cover and a tighter main panel. The shift in aspect ratio changes how the device looks in the hand.

The proportions track what Android Central’s Galaxy Unpacked preview has linked in its own reporting to a new Wide Fold device Samsung is preparing. Android Central, drawing on a Korea Economic Times leak, describes the wide-format device as tipped to feature a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner screen, with the 4:3 aspect ratio inside. Qwaider’s 5.5-inch cover figure sits close to that, and his 7.6-inch main figure matches exactly. The wide-format Fold is, in Android Central’s framing, a separate device from the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 Samsung is also expected to launch.

The Wide Fold, in Android Central’s framing, is Samsung’s play for the wider body Apple is also expected to enter this year. Apple’s own foldable iPhone roadmap, surfaced through internal reporting, has a fall launch for that device widely expected.

Cameras, Battery, and Charging

The leaked Fold 8 spec sheet, set side by side with the official Fold 7 specs on Samsung Mobile Press, points to a different camera strategy, a heavier battery, and a faster charging spec. Storage on the leaked sheet is listed at 12GB of RAM with 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB options. The chipset on Qwaider’s sheet is named as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a 3nm part Qualcomm has yet to officially announce.

Fold 7 figures are from Galaxy Z Fold 7 official specs page. Fold 8 figures are from Ahmed Qwaider’s full Galaxy Z Fold 8 spec sheet post, with the 45W charging figure from Samsung’s July 22 Unpacked event preview.

The 45W wired charging figure for the wide-format Fold 8 is from Android Central’s reporting on Samsung’s summer Unpacked lineup. Qwaider’s post itself lists Super Fast Charging 2.0 and Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 without a wattage. Samsung’s spec sheet for the Fold 7 lists 25W wired charging on its press page. Both the Fold 7 and the leaked Fold 8 support Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 on the specs already on the record.

Where This Sits in Samsung’s Summer Unpacked Lineup

Samsung has not officially confirmed any of the Fold 8 specifications, and the company has not yet announced a date for its next Galaxy Unpacked event. A leak carried by the Korea Economic Times and reported by Android Central points to July 22, 2026 in London as the venue for the summer showcase. The date would mark a shift from Samsung’s usual Korea or US locations for its big-tent hardware events. Android Central notes that Samsung typically sends invites two to three weeks ahead of an Unpacked, which would put the invite window right around the time this leak was posted. The tip’s timing lines up with that pattern.

Android Central’s preview lists up to four foldable devices for the event: the standard tall-format Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Wide Fold device on Qwaider’s sheet, the Galaxy Z Flip 8, and a possible Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE. Separately, a Fold 8 Ultra has surfaced in FCC filings covered by 9to5Google, with our own reporting on that device tracking a 3,600-nit peak brightness tip for the Ultra. The same preview notes that a Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to debut alongside the new phones.

  • Galaxy Z Fold 8 (standard tall-format successor to the Fold 7)
  • Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide (the device on Qwaider’s spec sheet, with a 4:3 inner aspect ratio)
  • Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (separately leaked via FCC filings)
  • Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Z Flip 8 FE
  • Galaxy Watch 9

What the Leak Doesn’t Confirm

None of the figures on Qwaider’s spec sheet come from Samsung itself. The Galaxy Unpacked date is also unconfirmed, with Samsung typically sending invites two to three weeks ahead of the event, per Android Central. The 201g figure is the most discussed data point in the leak. It is also the figure Samsung is most likely to put on its own compare page if the device ships at the tipster’s weight.

The chipset name, the battery capacity, and the charging speed are all unconfirmed until Samsung says otherwise. Storage variants are listed but not formally tied to a launch configuration.

Qwaider’s spec sheet covers the wide-format Fold and only the wide-format Fold. The standard tall-format Fold 8 and the Fold 8 Ultra will likely get their own leaks closer to the July 22 event. Readers weighing whether to wait will want to read the 201g tip as the headline data point, and the rest of the sheet as supporting context for what Samsung is preparing to put on stage.
